January Transfer Window 2026

A fresh face that’s massively lacking confidence and how long does it take for him to get up to speed?? I’d rather play the lad we’ve paid 27mil for than help out Utd. No issue if it was Toney or someone of that level coming in,
But not Zirkzee
Barry and Beto oozing goals and confidence, I'm writing this purely in the hope of a surprise brace from either/ between them tonight :)

I'm talking a plan as in transfer strategy. Players scouted fully, for positions we need, and gone after.

Not this, which is just like when you're walking round the shop and grab that random tub of brownies that's sat there whilst you're waiting in the queue for the till.

We dont know that Johnson hasn’t been on lists at Everton previously. Perhaps he was but the opportunity hasn’t been there until now.

That was great business. Plus the drawn out Gylffi saga for £40m+ whatever. Classy

God we're really back in the Sandro/Klaassen days of intelligent recruitment if we're serious about spending 35m on Brennan Johnson.

"We need to score more goals. Here's a player who scores lots of goals!"-level thinking

C'mon Jakey, two full-backs for £35m is not hard.

6 months left on his deal, nice attacking option with Myko as the defensive option:

Year on his deal, got a lot of potential:

I have no idea who these fm regens are but I'll ake your word for it.

I think with the January window you jump on what's available
I can imagine Johnson would have been on a shortlist of wingers for us in the summer - so depends how much we want him I guess.

For the price and age I don’t think it’s a bad signing - brings much needed pace.

I’ve seen him a lot for Wales and mostly underwhelmed but he does have flashes and knows where the goal is.

The video @GrandOldTeam posted has a nice combination of finishes in it.

Not every chance was him running into a through ball. He finished some good chances with defenders in front of him which is what he would have to be able to do here. We just don't break at pace, and from what I read he is better finishing those moves off than carrying the ball at speed.

Thats what they said.

Kinnear and Moyes and journos have all said loans only unless someone top notch comes available at the right price.

Now whether he's of the level we expect or the position we need...they had said they would go for players if they came available...

They never said they had a plan to sign anyone.
Equally if they start saying ‘we need a striker we’ll sign a striker’ and it back fires moyes/kinner look very stupid.

Better to lower expectation to then pull a huge surprise. Especially as any move for Johnson would likely be partially funded by a McNeil sale.

Grealish, Johnson, Ndiaye, Dibling is a huge jump in class from

McNeil, Harrison, Lindstrøm, Danjuma

Although hopefully they are also working on a RB

Can Palace please wrap this deal up sharpish.
We haven’t got a decent full back at the club, we can’t seriously be considering spending £35m on someone who wouldn’t get in our first choice XI.
Think he defo gets in our starting XI and would be a huge upgrade than the crap we’ve had on our Bench the last few weeks
