Wasting your time trying to get through to older posters on this site with this kind of analysis. Will inevitably always end with you getting called a video game playing virgin, without any actual counter-argument being offered.Then you should tell every single top flight club in the world because they've clearly got it all wrong.
Again I was only talking about that same fraction of the story in response to something quite specific about the quality of the chances they've had - I agree.
Tedious comments like this were understandable 10 years ago. Goals are a stat too. They're a descriptive stat that tell you more about the past while xG is a predictive stat that tells you more about the future (or about repeatability if you want to get technical). They indicate that Barry will be better for us in the future than he has been so far. The same story has played out hundreds of times, its not a given but it's very likely.
I find it so baffling that people are so resistant to just information about the game they're so obsessed with - that's literally all it is
Tbh there's certain people on here who seem to be insulted by the idea that someone else might have put more thought into watching Everton than they have, because after all they've been watching the game for x amount of years and they just 'know' football.
It's incredibly boring and limits conversations that can be had on here to surface level observations. People have a right to debate the validity of certain aspects of xg and similar data, but it is a fact that this is how every top flight club in the world is viewing and analysing football. The reflex responses of 'I watch a game with my eyes thanks' and 'go back to fm' etc, say more about people blindly clinging on to a version of football that hasn't existed for 10-15 years now.
