January Transfer Window 2026

Are you saying he doesnt improve our team? or even our squad? He walks into our team at the moment and makes us better, thats what counts for me. Personally I couldnt care less what spurs fans think.
I'm saying if we want to progress beyond finishing between say 8th and 12th we need better strikers than Richarlison as he's not rated at a club we should be looking to be better than

Wasting your time trying to get through to older posters on this site with this kind of analysis. Will inevitably always end with you getting called a video game playing virgin, without any actual counter-argument being offered.

Tbh there's certain people on here who seem to be insulted by the idea that someone else might have put more thought into watching Everton than they have, because after all they've been watching the game for x amount of years and they just 'know' football.

It's incredibly boring and limits conversations that can be had on here to surface level observations. People have a right to debate the validity of certain aspects of xg and similar data, but it is a fact that this is how every top flight club in the world is viewing and analysing football. The reflex responses of 'I watch a game with my eyes thanks' and 'go back to fm' etc, say more about people blindly clinging on to a version of football that hasn't existed for 10-15 years now.
It's just incredibly boring though. As you say, if someone starts throwing stats at me I have absolutely zero interest in what they are saying so it's pointless.

We need to finish 8-12 consistently first before we look higher. Richie could do a job for us. He's a good finish and we actually now have creative players who can run, dribble and pass so he can stick to finishing.

They aren’t really saying that though are they. I know loads. Some thinking he should play behind Wissa, some thinking he needs a rest. Nobody seriously saying he is rubbish.
The people that you know personally aren't going to be saying that, as I'm sure they're reasonable enough, intelligent people.

The spectrum of opinions you see online on the other hand is obviously very different. Seen a lot of people complaining he's too slow, show pony, not working hard enough and is a waste of money. From the outside we're able to see thats daft because we aren't emotionally invested in his success, but for some Newcastle fans - they genuinely seriously feel like that.

To me its similar on here with Barry. People I meet in real life who are fans of Everton or other clubs are nowhere near as dismissive of him as the majority on here. People might not be showering him with praise, but what I hear from people is know to be sensible is - not sure yet, give him time to find his feet and show what he can do.

If you look in his thread on here you would think he's the worst player to grace the Premier League.

So then just don't respond? Rather than feeling the need to dismiss what that person is saying as wrong just because you can't be bothered to engage with it.

If you have nothing to add to a conversation then why say anything at all.

The problem is he'll be expensive and if we are going to spend decent money on a striker I'd hope our scouts can do a better job than settling for a player who has failed at the higher level just because he was a fan favourite who 'gets' us

I think that's a bit over the top.
I will read and respect someones 'stats' analysis, although I dont agree with how thats looked at.

That possibly will be where football chat progresses too in the future, but it will be about as entertaining as speaking to a BOT.

It wont be a game anymore once it hits that point.

Are they? Or is it like on here when it’s a few individuals that post the extremes and it isn’t reflective of the wider fan base
