We needed a 'thug' for many years.
We let ourselves get bullied by too many teams for too long.
It was horrible to always have to admit that the biggest thug playing in red, who was also their best player, was more up for derby games than our soft bunch. A Tarkowski wouldn't have been scared to kick him off the park.
You need a nasty so and so. To get in the ref's ear and cross the line sometimes. We have one that doesn't get send off, what is not to like?
Simpletons like Fernandez at United will run the game by talking a ref's ear off if you don't go right through on of their players from time to time to show them we are not who we used to anymore.

He clearly is. That fact he’s got away with doesn’t disprove it. A murder who doesn’t get caught is still a murderer. You don’t mind a bit of thuggery on the pitch, I get it, I prefer players who don’t consistently try to hurt the opposition.

That stat is nuts. He toes the line with hard challenges/stray elbows and shoves almost every game. Just shows that maybe he knows what he's doing and what you can get away with.
