Jack Rodwell

Rodwell was, or should have been, a Rolls Royce of a footballer. Physically he had the lot, his touch was excellent, he was a big strong unit, but, his head was all over the place. Shame to see such a waste of talent though. I watched him coming through and genuinely thought he would be a world beater.

His critical injury finished him we sent him to the best hamstring doctor, only to find it was a disc injury in his lower back affecting his upper leg .....
City missed it and we cashed in .....

Never really rated him. People place Rodwell and Barkley in the same category but the latter was always far more talented, even if his recent career move hasn't done him any favours.

Let’s be honest he was just yet another youngster that we massively overhyped. He wasn’t much good at all.

Disagree.

At the Euro U21 Championship in 2009 he was up against Khederia and Ozil on his debut, as the youngest player in the tournament and winning man of the match awards.

Commentary on this video saying he is worth £30m+, could play anywhere and United would want him

Remember when we were 2-0 up against Sporting Lisbon at home and Rodwell mistook Distin for a Goa'uld and in his panic blasted the ball at him as hard as he could and the ball spilt to one of them and they scored the away goal and we went out in the second leg.

Doss bat.
I do remember it. A nightmare of a last minute backward pass for Distin to have to deal with. As I recall Distin eventually brought the forward down for a penalty from which Sporting scored. So what would have been a comfortable 2-0 first leg victory was transformed. Even a 1-0 defeat in Lisbon would have seen us go out. Moyes made sure it was never going to be that close by sending out his team in the second leg with no intention of getting out of its own half, and a 3-0 defeat ensued.

I also recall Moyes taking an attacking player off for Rodwell, we could and should have beaten Sporting 3 or 4 that night.

As for Rodwell, I thought he was eventually going to be dropped back as a CB once he had some experience. Suppose the lad was unlucky with injuries as he could never seem to get a run together. I also recall the Derby he got sent off when Suarez made a meal of a good tackle, he started that game really well.

Heard a rumour he'll be given a lifetime contract by Kenwrong to look after the 23s once Unsy leaves. Triple team with Jeffers and Baxter. He looks after the lads does Bill.
Sadly not beyond the realm of reality
