The quality
Grealish offers isn’t available - that is, free of the age or injury prone factors - for any fee we’re currently able / willing to pay. At least, at this stage in our resurrection. So if he still wants to be here next season (which is what we’re looking at now, tbh) I’d find a way to make it happen.
Sure, Jack’s direct output has slackened recently, but his ability to keep possession, to win fouls and take the pressure off us, to find the right controlled pass, to attract defenders, is all of a quality we would have to break the bank to acquire by another means. He also offers so much that is unquantifiable - personality, publicity, winning mentality, respect and affection - and would I think be able to do so for another season.
He’s currently the only way we get that sort of quality in our team. Is that worth more at the moment than getting a younger, nippier, left-sided player? For now, I think yes. I accept we do need pace, but of all the players investment in pace should come at the expense of,
Grealish is not the one.
Those who would say he’d be a poor of funds next season do, IMHO, know the cost of everything but the value of nothing.
