I don’t think City are after a 34 year old ex Barca striker tbhGrealish & stones for Braithwaite
I’m not talking about it being career affecting, I’m just saying if you only get 20 games or whatever out of him and you’ve spent £17m and then he or we decide not to make it permanent it’s an absolutely awful waste of resources. It’s not really debatable to be honest, it’s just a pretty obvious fact. Not really, he’s still a depreciating asset getting paid whether it’s one year or 2 - 3 years.
Arguably if that injury is career affecting at least you’re only committed for 1 year, if insurance doesn’t cover it.
He’s due £15.6m in wages regardless, whether that’s from a loan fee and City paying him or Everton paying them a fee to weigh him out of his final year
I highly doubt City have or will be subsidising his wages while he’s registered for Everton.
You’ve lost me here.I’m not talking about it being career affecting, I’m just saying if you only get 20 games or whatever out of him and you’ve spent £17m and then he or we decide not to make it permanent it’s an absolutely awful waste of resources. Well that’s my point in a nutshell really. I wouldn’t want to pay much more than £17m for him on an actual contract, so paying £17m just for a one year loan with no guarantee you get anything extra wouldn’t be a good deal. He’s a really good footballer and lovely to watch, but I just don’t think he’s anywhere near that good that we should be breaking the bank to get him. I really like him, but he’s no longer (if he ever really was) a £100m, £300k a week player. To be good value at £17m for one year you have to be seriously producing the goods, right up with the very best in the league. You’ve lost me here.
How is having him on a multi year contract that costs more than a 1 year loan financially better if he gets injured in the first year and only plays 20 games?
How much do you think signing him for 3 years from City will cost in the summer for a possible transfer fee and 3 years wages?
Grealish & stones for Braithwaite
Yes.Outside of the UK is Grealish that big a "name"? I'm not trying to be dismissive, I just genuinely don't know how big a star he is internationally?
Just playing the devil's advocatelies
So up to £17m transfer fee, and how much you think he would want in wages per year? As he’d be walking away from £15.6m per year / £300k per week for his last year at City.Well that’s my point in a nutshell really. Again, this is what I’m saying. How much he’d want is irrelevant to the conversation, how much I think we should pay him is what matters (in this context). Again, I don’t think we should be breaking the bank for a player who hadn’t made a huge difference to our results this season and is coming to the twilight of his career. If we can do a good deal I’d like to keep him, I just don’t see £17m a year as a good deal.So up to £17m transfer fee, and how much you think he would want in wages per year?
