2025/26 Jack Grealish

Wish...and around what I think, may not even be that much per week.

Im really flim flamming on this.

On the one hand, 31 in September and his goal contribution stats are padded from when he first joined + 3 games. Also, slows the play down when I think were better off playing quick football.

On the other hand, clearly an experienced England and City player who is well liked in the squad. Effective at bringing 2 players onto him.

The numbers that make sense to me would be £12-15mil loan fee for a season and covering £150k of his wages.

At that point we'll know how effective he'll have been next season.

I think the loan fee IS the covering of the wages tbh.

I really like him, I don't think he slows the play down, its not just aimless plodding...its retaining possession for me, he uses his football IQ to keep his team the ball....picking and running with it every time, would result in losing the ball more, something Ndiaye needs to do sometimes.

Loan make

Agree loan at that price to get a player of his quality makes sense, still feel adding an attacking fb would help. Either way hope the club look to bring in another option out wide to with pace

Yes thats what the previous loan fee was. I'm saying that i'd be ok on that fee with those wages rather than locking in a long term agreement.

I think hes slow to release the ball.

You assume City let him go for free in exchange for relinquishing any claim to the remaining value of his contact with them?
£31m still feels a bit rich for my liking….. wonder if TFG are prepared to write that off over 3 years though 🧐.

I think we hold the cards in a way here.

His book value is around £16 million.

City could sell for that and would not lose a penny.

But Jack would want that last year of his £300k a week contract, im sure, but a 3 year one at £200k would cover him long term.

I imagine if we're talking to potential shirt sponsors and other commercial partners "will Grealish be wearing our logo?" would be a question that would come up, he's still a big draw. So makes sense commercially to try and get something tied up nice and early.
Outside of the UK is Grealish that big a "name"? I'm not trying to be dismissive, I just genuinely don't know how big a star he is internationally?

I would say not. The football news cycle moves very quickly these days, Grealish is very much yesterdays man in that sense. Not saying we shouldn't sign him or he's not still a top class footballer, but the commercial opportunities opened up by someone like Grealish are not going to be particularly significant.

He still has a book value to City of £16.6m for the final year of his contract.
They owe him a rumoured £15.6m for the last year of his contract.

Can see a loan solution were we pay upto £17m to city and they pay him - which is basically the same as them releasing him and us paying his wages.

After that he’s 31/32 and a free agent, possibly willing to stay here for another year or two if next season went well, we could give him 2 years on <£110k.

That would all balance out the same as signing him now on a 3 year deal for a total outlay of £28.4m while allowing City to write his value down as normal. Seems doable 🤷‍♂️

Of course a lot can affect that, rival clubs willing pay a transfer fee or more wages etc…..
