2025/26 Jack Grealish

I think we hold the cards in a way here.

His book value is around £16 million.

City could sell for that and would not lose a penny.

But Jack would want that last year of his £300k a week contract, im sure, but a 3 year one at £200k would cover him long term.
Last bit is the key really, how much would he take for 3 years in exchange for the final year of £300k.
I imagine there’s a whole load of accounting complications on how that would be done across signing on fees vs wages etc, both on our side and City’s.
I assume registrations are treated as CapEx and wages OpEx so there’s possibly a balance to be had there for the clubs from a tax perspective.

Loan make

Agree loan at that price to get a player of his quality makes sense, still feel adding an attacking fb would help. Either way hope the club look to bring in another option out wide to with pace
Either couples counselling for him and myko or Playing a functioning fullback behind him we’ll see a lot more .

I see and understand all the negatives but a loan deal would make a lot of sense particularly if we found ourselves in European comp.

If we can get him for father’s day less than the £50m originally mooted, assuming there’s a Barry-esque structure to this deal, it’s an absolute no-brainer. KDH in particular loved having him on the pitch and assuming we get a new, more competent attacking LB he could be playing triangles that will make grown men* weep next year.

*I am grown men.
Egregious auto correct. Apologies.

He still has a book value to City of £16.6m for the final year of his contract.
They owe him a rumoured £15.6m for the last year of his contract.

Can see a loan solution were we pay upto £17m to city and they pay him - which is basically the same as them releasing him and us paying his wages.

After that he’s 31/32 and a free agent, possibly willing to stay here for another year or two if next season went well, we could give him 2 years on <£110k.

That would all balance out the same as signing him now on a 3 year deal for a total outlay of £28.4m while allowing City to write his value down as normal. Seems doable 🤷‍♂️

Of course a lot can affect that, rival clubs willing pay a transfer fee or more wages etc…..
The problem with that is if he picks up another bad injury you’ve basically just pissed £17m up the wall. It’s different to having him under a long term contract.

To who ?? Barry & Beto !?!

Rather he keeps it.

My issue is he does not shoot enough.

If we sign an attacking LB or use Aznou then we can see what the score is.

Makes sense to me that we see how he is for 1 more season before locking in 2 or 3 years.

Not really, he’s still a depreciating asset getting paid whether it’s one year or 2 - 3 years.
Arguably if that injury is career affecting at least you’re only committed for 1 year, if insurance doesn’t cover it.
He’s due £15.6m in wages regardless, whether that’s from a loan fee and City paying him or Everton paying them a fee to weigh him out of his final year 🤷‍♂️
I highly doubt City have or will be subsidising his wages while he’s registered for Everton.

Where have you been the last 30 years?

We've had a sniff of a trophy about twice.

Get Europe, win a trophy and put this long nightmare without success to bed.
If your implication is that we haven't been planning to win a trophy over that time, and all we've got to do different to win a trophy is plan to win a trophy, then I completely disagree.
