2025/26 Jack Grealish

If that's the case then we will have picked the wrong manager. He's our best player, becoming clearer with every game he misses.
That point doesn't question anything about his talent.

That point is looking at the fact Jack came to us to play football and Moyes played a massive part in it.

If moyes left I think that would also play a massive part in his decision, which is why a loan would suit both parties.
The situation can then be addressed at the end of next season.

If Moyes was to go, we wouldn't be scouting a manager just because he see's Jack in his plans..

Said it before and I'll say it again, we shouldn't sign him in the summer. The economics don't work. He seems like a lovely lad and he's clearly a very good player but he is eye wateringly expensive, the wrong side of 30 and we are very one dimensional when he plays (the tactic is get it to Grealish and win a free kick) and teams figured that out quite quickly.

Find the new Grealish.

Wouldn't he do the same though ?

Yeah I can see what you're saying.

My point is that if we pick the 'right' manager to replace Moyes I think this problem solves itself. Jack clearly has a great relationship with Moyes but equally I think he likes the club, the squad, the fans. I don't think he would feel totally differently if we were making a positive change of manager.

Also tbh I don't think there's any manager that comes in and benches Grealish with our current squad. No matter who it is they will have Jack pretty central to their plans I would imagine.

I don't want him going anywhere, he brings so much to the club on and off the field.

I'm not sure I understand the question? Would the new Grealish play the same way as the old Grealish (current Grealish?)? Probably, but without the rep and the massive wage I would hope we would vary our tactics rather than rely on just using one player as an outlet and occasionally bench them to change things up (under a different manager, obviously, Moyes would obviously flog that tactic to death).

Agree.

Like him and Alcaraz but spending £12m on his wages and same on Alcaraz fee when we didn't have fullbacks was madness.

2 decent fullbacks would've made such a difference this season.

I'd be quite happy if Grealish or Moyes weren't here next season tbh.

New brooms needed

just a response mate, after reading why to not pursue Grealish, very one dimensional.
You want the same player.. 🤷‍♂️

Sad as it is to admit, I don't think we'd do enough with him to justify the outlay.

No point having players on Champions League wages at a club with no real ambition beyond staying clear of relegation.

I don't think Grealish is one dimensional, I think the way we use him, and the way we set up with him in the team, is one dimensional. That's a criticism of Moyes, not Grealish. My presumption is if we sign a young player in the Grealish mold his contract would outlast Moyes and we might see them used differently at some point (and at a much lower cost to the club). I also think that Moyes values established stars and is therefore reluctant to drop them when they need a rest or if we want to try something different, whereas he is not at all reluctant to do that with younger players. I like Grealish, I just think he is too expensive for us and I would prefer younger players generally.

We do have the modern day grealish warming the bench. Beyond that, English football is pushing that player out of the game.
We are in another transitional cycle of player profiles to the detriment of exciting players.

The most naturally gifted players will fall by the curb, over systematically trained athletes..
