But there is no point in paying the money to bring him in unless you are also going to prioritise huge upgrades at both full back positions. We are currently setting our wide players up to fail by having as bad full back options as you'll see at this level.

So bringing him back needs to be part of the overall plan.

I reckon we get him on a decent deal. There won't be a queue of clubs looking to sign him for big money. If we give him a longish deal on good money he'll sign. City will accept the deal for similar reasons.

I’m defo not convinced on the value to contribution mate.

But what we have here is one domino falling and the value to contribution ratio can change. If he wants to stay here, he needs to drop his wage and then let the market know it’s here or he’s leaving on a free summer after next at City - leave City with a choice of accepting a value deal or paying him 15 mill +, with no return next season.

The above is the theory and if we’re progressing should be the approach - personally I’m not convinced we should progress.
