2025/26 Jack Grealish

Realistically thats just his book value plus the remainder of his contract, if City can get that they break even with his purchase, so reckon the papers are just putting 2 and 2 together.

Not suggesting it’s the right move, but if he does arrive I reckon it will be undisclosed and the fee will be his book value plus ½ his annual salary, with us picking up the other ½ in his next years wages.
Something like £23m-£24m plus a £150k / w contract.
Still not convinced TFG see signing him for say 3 years with a total outlay close to £50m plus this years fee as something they want to pony up for imo.

Joined City in 2021 on a 6 year deal to 2027.

£100mil ÷ 6 = £16.67mil book value this summer.

Not sure why we'd pay anymore than that as a maximum.

Because City will still owe him 1 years wages at the end of this season.
If they sell him, he’s still entitled to it and I doubt we’d cover it in its entirety

Last season we loaned 3 forwards in Harrison (shudder), Lindstrom and Broja. All of whom would have been on more wages in total than what Grealish is, yet Grealish has produced much more than all 3 of them put together, in half a season.

Then, we have 2 fwds who cost over £50mil in total and across their contracts will cost more than what Jack will across his - if, we signed him for £30mil. You’d also expect Jack to have many more goal involvements than them 2 put together as well, barring a severe upturn in form for both of them.

Then we have McNeil and Dibling as our back up wingers. While Dibling is a new signing, he already looks like he won’t get anywhere near Grealish numbers in a full season, and neither will McNeil (based on this seasons performances) if he was to play instead of Grealish.

Now, there is obviously a chance that we don’t sign Grealish and we sign a winger who is cheaper, has a lower wage, and produces more. However, based on the evidence of the players mentioned above that isn’t likely.

You can talk about resale value but the players I mentioned above in Dibling, Beto and Barry, also would not get anywhere near what we paid for them should we sell them now.

That’s why I personally see it as a no brainer.
Very well reasoned. Made me see it differently.
