2025/26 Jack Grealish

If Moyes is giving him instructions, to hold the ball up until people get forward then Moyes is to blame for our slow play. However, Grealish played better against Brentford because he came 10 yards inside and played more balls forward. It appears Grealish is very reluctant to attempt to beat a player, one on one sometimes waiting until it is two on him, unlike Ndiaya who does take players on, because he doesn't want to lose the ball so plays safe, pass it back or draw the foul, which slows down our forward play. Either Moyes changes tact with him and get's him to play the ball quicker and play him inside, or if he can't because his 'style of play' is so ingrained, then he shouldn't start. Granted he plays better with Dewsbury-Hall playing so maybe it's not so ingrained but we need more from him. If Grealish has come here to up his world cup chances then they are slipping away. Maybe his petulance last night was due to frustration.

Looks like Dibling is doing the same thing on the right and for that reason id look at Moyes' tactics.

Only difference between one and the other that i see is that Grealish always has our players close by and Dibling does not.

You aren't at City anymore Jack

Very poor this. Moyes said he had spoken with Grealish.

Now he pops up with this comment.

Whats he trying to achieve here?

Assists + goals = not in the top 20.
Big chances created = 28th place, just below Sean Longstaff.

Overall it doesnt matter of course if the centre forward cant hit a barn door.

Those big chances created are poor for a player of Grealish's standing.

Is he worth the money? Not with these tactics and slow play and not for the output.

Anyway we shouldn't be paying £200,000-odd a week to a player like Grealish, so that for me is enough to be against us signing him.

He's past his best and will be on a downwards trajectory, you don't want to be committing to a 2-3 year deal with those kind of numbers.

Unfortunately we had a golden chance to utilise him this season and passed up on it and surrounded him instead with garbage players behind and in front of him.

All over this mornings back pages that he's joining for £30m.

Odd tiiming... wonder if we are going to sign him this month to allow another City player to join on loan? Maybe Ake?

Not seen anything online :o

£30mil would be totally insane.

For £15mil or £20mil i could understand if we had a young LW to develop behind him.

£30mil for a player 31 in September.

Sounds just like the type of signing we would make, and before the ink is dry on the contract he`d pick up a hamstring strain that will keep him out for a couple of weeks, that turns to months, and then end of season.......

I wouldn’t want to read too much into the fee. If it happens the whole package including wages, severance and signing on fees etc… will be structured for what works best for PSR for both clubs.

The key to it all would likely be how much Grealiah is willing to drop his wages for a permanent move to us. That is what City need to lose most off their books, as they are likely still paying half a million quid a month to someone who doesn’t play for them and clearly there is no space in their squad for him moving forward.

Say he was willing to half his alleged salary to £150k a week to come to us now, that is £11.4m less in wages between now and the end of his City contract (a huge sum of it taxed, so not all going to Jack) that can be leveraged to help a deal happen.

As has been said many times before, all depends on how much he wants to be playing regular football. The mood music is that he would be willing to do what he can to make it happen, so although I share others concerns about investment in a player of that age etc… overall it is probably a good deal to secure proven Prem quality we are not going to get for anywhere near the same price in someone else right now.
