2025/26 Jack Grealish

A stupid booking which resulted in the dismissal but I can't blame him too much for a heat-of-the-moment, frustrated reaction.

Not only has he just seen his teammate sent off for possibly the most ridiculous reason ever in Premier League history, he's also played the entire game with absolutely zero support either behind, alongside or in front of him on the field.

Probably went into the game dreading it, knowing he'll need to put in a Messi-type performance to have an impact on the game.

Still, in line with I assume all sendings off, fine him a week's wages and tell him to try harder not to react in the future.
Not much chance of a “Messi-like performance”. Jack has averaged 4 prem goals a season across his career and his prem assist average per 90 mins is almost exactly the same as Dwight McNeil’s during his time at Everton. I like seeing talented individuals wear our shirt, but personally I’d rather build a young, hungry, humble team that can grow together - not have one guy paid loads more than anyone else in the history of the club for a middling output. I appreciate lots of people disagree tho!

Everytime he gets the ball even when we're on a quick counter attack he slows everything down and allows the opposition to get back and reset. Yes he's good on the ball and very rarely gives it away but slows the game down too much for me.
I think there is a bit of this, agreed, he could be quicker sometimes and take more risks (could be the man city approach showing). But I wonder a large part of this is that the movement in front of him is so poor. He can play clever passes, we've seen that, but he has to have someone to pass to. There were a couple of times when both Armstrong and Tim broke forward and they couldn't find passes. I'm not sure about Barry's movement and neither he nor McNeil are quick enough on the break.
I also think he's struggling with just-give-it-to-jack-Myko. He's probably the worst for losing possession, but all of the defence makes me nervous when they have the ball

He's not the biggest problem but hes not untouchable either....

Has to commit to attempting to beat his man or putting a ball in more often...

As it is we're seeing him slow down play too often with no end result...

Also has to trust myko more, he might not be the best but he's got to use him at times instead of trying to beat 3 players at walking pace

I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t think we’ll sign him permanantly.

I reckon we’ll hang on late and try to loan him for the final year of his contract again.

If Moyes is giving him instructions, to hold the ball up until people get forward then Moyes is to blame for our slow play. However, Grealish played better against Brentford because he came 10 yards inside and played more balls forward. It appears Grealish is very reluctant to attempt to beat a player, one on one sometimes waiting until it is two on him, unlike Ndiaya who does take players on, because he doesn't want to lose the ball so plays safe, pass it back or draw the foul, which slows down our forward play. Either Moyes changes tact with him and get's him to play the ball quicker and play him inside, or if he can't because his 'style of play' is so ingrained, then he shouldn't start. Granted he plays better with Dewsbury-Hall playing so maybe it's not so ingrained but we need more from him. If Grealish has come here to up his world cup chances then they are slipping away. Maybe his petulance last night was due to frustration.

He's been ok, nothing to rave about imo.

I wouldn't sign him. In fact not sure I'd loan him again.

£24m for 2 year loan. Who else is paying that?

We need pace in the team, players that can get us up the pitch rapido
Not a chance of an England call up ever again. Engine and stamina to go forward, carry and take on players is'nt there anymore. Good team player BUT the star player status has now gone unfortunately.

Let's not forget Grealish has given our defence countless breathers when under the kosh due to his slowing down the play and drawing a foul
Our team has problems but Grealish is definitely not one of them

If we can get him for 20m or less and he drops his wages to about 100k per week, then I think it would be a good purchase.

But anything else then no. He is good and could do with much more support down the left, but needs to realize we are not a City possession team and we cannot slow it down to walking pace and still expect to break down the opposition.

Needs to do things a lot quicker.... if this is because he hasn't got the movement around him, or just the way he plays I am not sure.

You aren't at City anymore Jack

Middling Output?

He's got 6 assists in the league behind only Fernandes and Cherki. Not bad considering what he's working with.

He'll be missed when he's not here next year.
