Israel gave Gaza away to the Palestinians. The Palestinians then elected Hamas into government.

Hamas is a terrorist organisation that wants to kill all Jewish people. Sure there has been difficulties between both concerned parties since 1948, when the Israeli state came under attack within one day of coming into existence!

I think most people can agree that committing the biggest mass killing of Jewish people since the Holocaust, was a serious and major escalation of events on October 7th 2023.

Israel should've just held on to Gaza in the first place. That's the moral of the story i take from this.

It wasn't Israel's to give away. They are occupying terrorists and you are openly supporting their murder of women and children

There seems to be a few extra fingers for this post. Are the finger people saying that the people in Gaza didn't elect Hamas into government?

Hamas were elected in 2006 because of the work they had done within Palestinian society - feeding people, providing education, making civil society work etc,, because the Palestinian Authority was seen as terminally corrupt, and had achieved nothing towards freeing them from the Israeli jackboot 14 years on from Oslo, and because they were seen as having driven the settlers out of Gaza, which I would imagine Sharon calculated would happen. Desperate people do desperate things. Hamas have proven even worse, sadly.

The formation of Israel and Palestine is very complex and there is no possible way it can be surmised in a single sentence. To attempt to do so shows an extreme bias rather than considered thought.

Custodianship of the land is a very complex issue and attempting to summarise it in one sentence shows an extreme bias rather than considered thought.

That's the moral of the story i take from this.

The moral I take is that what Hamas did on October 7th was wrong, and the killing of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, displacing hundreds of thousand more and razing an entire country to the ground is also wrong.
