Israel doesn't differentiate fighters from children when targetingAre you getting those figures directly from Hamas? They don't differentiate civilian casualties from terrorist ones, and they also use child soldiers in combat.

He looked delighted though, and could do with a little plausible deniability these daysOne of the odd things about the reporting of what he said overnight, which has been lost in all the outrage and disbelief, was that Netanyahu didn’t exactly greet it with welcome; he said it was “worth paying attention to this” and “something that could change history”.
I suppose given that the Israeli government want to seize it for themselves this might not be the thing they wanted or expected.
It definitely would not have happenedThe mask has fully slipped now. Tbf, under the democrats, the same thing would have happened but it just would have been dressed up nicer.
A nation of people literally given an eviction notice, live on TV.
It definitely would not have happened
The Biden Admin abstaining from UN calls for ceasefires instead of vetoing signaled the shift. Bibi was waiting for a Trump presidency
Democrats would not have withdrawn from the UN Human Rights council either
Yea very littleIm just wondering what can be done to stop this. The Gulf states need to step up I guess. There is no way the UK will, we are already balls deep having supplied munitions for the entirety of the invasion.
What can people power do ? Very little it seems, trump is too belligerent to care.
I don't agree. The Biden admin were at least getting some aid in and arranged ceasefires that Netanyahu would definitely have abided by were the Democrats in power for a further four years. Election year was a big problem in this. Israel made life difficult for the Democrats and the Democrats tried to play both sides due to voting blocks and lobbying. They should've been firmer and not considered the election but hindsight is 20/20 at the end of the day. That's the dress up I'm referring to mate. The US would have kept supplying Israel and not giving a flying one about the continued plight of the average Palestinian.

It would be very different now had they won, I'm sure of that
I honestly think we should all threaten to move over to BRICS in retaliationYea very little
I am writing to the Irish Taoiseach Micheal Martin to urge cancellation of the annual St. Patricks day ring kissing trip to Washington. A least in that, we would not be signaling Irish Americans that we are supportive of this. Even if behind closed doors Martin urges a different approach Trump will spin it whatever way he wants. Kissing the ring and making agreements is meaningless with a lunatic like Trump. Look at the way he is talking about the horrible trade deal the US have with Canada and Mexico that he himself said was the best trade deal ever ever when he oversaw it in 2018.
As you say there is little we can do but be active in what's left of representative democratic systems. Any other nation and boycotts and sanctions would be under full discussion this morning.
I don't disagreeMate, allowing aid, negotiating temporary ceasefires but also still supplying and not stopping the Israeli regime that are causing the need for aid is not a good thing. Maybe it leaves a nicer taste in the mouth and lets some people think they're doing the right thing, but it's a load of crap. The only country that can stop Israel is America. But they don't as they have wider concerns in the middle-east and want to placate Israel as an ally... even though that ally is committing a genocide in Palestine.
I would love every influential nation/group to threaten the US with Tariffs. Be it the EU, Brics, UK, Arab block etc. Trump is a bully throwing his weight around now and the US would soon discover their power is grounded in economic ties globally. They don't spend near 1 trillion p/a on their military without itI honestly think we should all threaten to move over to BRICS in retaliation

Europe (including the UK) should have it's own version of non-dollar money transfer. Reliance on one method of interchange under control of the US would be a risky thing if the US ever voted in a crazed megalomaniac as President.I honestly think we should all threaten to move over to BRICS in retaliation
TBF the rest of the world deciding that it wasn’t going to go down this road and will instead do something else would be not drastic at all, and potentially hilarious.

However I expect the BRICS financial system will become available in non BRICS countries sooner than later, especially if it's cheaper when dealing with BRICS (and maybe even other non-BRICS) countries.
