They should get involved - but that will be purely diplomatic interventions.

Israel will take bloody revenge - nothing will stop that. As for what happens after that - seems to me that we’ve been at this point so many times and nothing really happens to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians.

I really can’t see a way out of this spiral for any side. The hatred and divisions run too deep.

Bibi will try and take bloody revenge, but I really hope the intelligent people around him will point out that every time he’s done this (attacked Hamas after an outrage in Israel), Hamas have come back stronger. Doing the same thing this time will be an even greater disaster than it has been the three times previous.

If you are talking about the country then I think you’re wrong, but if we are talking about this government (and some others), then yes I think they do need obvious threats around to scare otherwise rational people into supporting them.

A rational peace is possible, indeed its the most favourable outcome of this horror at this point (as it did in 1973), but its unlikely.

Yep. They're happy with the status quo. They'll play the long game. There's the odd threat from Hamas but the vast majority of Israel is very safe.

Thing is now Muslims across the region are calling for holy war against Israel. If Hezbollah and their Iranian handlers fancy getting in on the action then it could go south pretty quick.

The recent mission to Russia and agreement to attack the west, Russia has most likely calculated that a new front in Israel will erode GOP support for Ukraine. If things escalate China will be hovering over the attack button against Taiwan. Really dangerous times being pushed by Putin and Xi.

I’d say it’s more likely to be the Iranians that supported and helped Hamas plan this.

Of course we are already seeing the Russian propaganda channels salivating and lapping this up as it will probably play out in their favour.

If they did indeed play a part in this then all Ru forces in Syria suddenly become legitimate targets for the IDF.
