Yes he became pm nine years after the founding of Hamas.Hamas were formed in 1987. Netanyahu has been involved in Israeli politics since 1984. He first came to lead in 1996.

He's been an MK since 1988 IIRC, one year after the founding of Hamas. People don't have to be PM to have influence, and I didn't say "found", either, I said "foment", as in "stir up, give succour to". Which he has. For years and years, for the reason I stated.Yes he became pm nine years after the founding of Hamas.
With regards to the final paragraph of your post, while Nethanyahu is very much a problem. He's been an MK since 1988 IIRC, one year after the founding of Hamas. Possibly not the clearest word to use, I'll accept. I'm sorry for any confusion. I have never thought or meant to suggest he helped found Hamas.
He has still done more than any single person on either side to thwart peace, regardless.
I think it’s a matter of perspective. Israel showed its capabilities to launch intelligence-led targeted strikes on key targets when they took out the Iranian consular building in Damascus. With regards to the final paragraph of your post, while Nethanyahu is very much a problem.
Saying that he has done more than anyone else on either side to thwart peace is slightly hyperbolic imo.
Is an Israeli leader in your book supposed to give Hamas carte blanche to do whatever the hell they like? Should such a person have allowed October 7th go unanswered?
I absolutely agree with you there.I think it’s a matter of perspective. Israel showed its capabilities to launch intelligence-led targeted strikes on key targets when they took out the Iranian consular building in Damascus.
However following the atrocities of Oct 7th they chose a different path of revenge, real wrath of god stuff and that choice was Netanyahu’s.
They could have picked off Hamas bits at a time, admittedly it would have taken a lot longer but they would’ve got there in the end and it would have saved tens of thousands of innocent lives.
Picking off Hamas was never their sole objective. Turning Gaza into a wasteland, ejecting the Palestinians, then taking over Gaza has always been the plan from day 1. When that has been achieved - on to the West Bank for similar treatment.I think it’s a matter of perspective. So it transpired. But they had a choice. Instead they chose the path of vengeful murder and destruction.Picking off Hamas was never their sole objective. You are entitled to your opinion. With regards to the final paragraph of your post, while Nethanyahu is very much a problem.

Nethanyahu hasn't been in continuous power since 1996 though. So where is this 30 plus year stuff coming from? You are entitled to your opinion.
Can you name me another individual, not organisation, who has a 30+ year history of actively frustrating any serious efforts at peacemaking?
It is not hyperbole.
You only seem to be taking the most recent conflagration into account.

He doesn't have to be in power to be a bloody menace. He wasn't in power when he got Yitzhak Rabin marked for death.Nethanyahu hasn't been in continuous power since 1996 though. So where is this 30 plus year stuff coming from?
He was out of office from 1999 all the way through to 2009. So you are being a bit selective with your numbers here.
Well he is a friend of Putin so that could very well have happened. I would prefer to see Israel go for a different more left wing leaning/less Putin friendly political direction at this stage. He doesn't have to be in power to be a bloody menace. He wasn't in power when he got Yitzhak Rabin marked for death.
Wouldn't that be more of a W for Israel? 300+ Drones/missiles sent and intercepted, that's a display of strength that very few countries could display... Iran have said they consider the matter closed Israel should and hopefully will do the same.I think the US just need to tell Israel to take the L on this one. Far as I can tell the Iranian attack didn’t actually kill anyone, and they have to accept they provoked it by bombing Irans embassy
