Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

I am not a great fan of Varadker but credit where its due. He and his coalition partners have maintained a strong objective stance on behalf of the Irish people.

Despite strident criticism from the Israeli Government, the ambassador to Ireland and the Israeli media, the Government has maintained its stance.

This is a strong statement from our Taoiseach and I believe the vast majority of the Irish people support the Government in this regard.

I quite fancy moving to Ireland if that's the kind if thing their politicians make a stand on.

I'm still flabbergasted about that one. Imagine voting yourself out of an organisation designed for mutual prosperity and peaceful and beneficial coexistence with your neighbours- what on earth were the out voters thinking?
Leaving a tariff free market of some 450m potential customers was a bit baffling alright.

Also, making imports of UK goods less attractive and more bureaucracy.

I wouldn't be proud of the current stance of those EU states who voted against the UN resolution - Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Czechia.

Only 8 voted for.

They were Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg.

The other lily livered MSs abstained.

I don't know what everyone else's limit on seeing the broken bodies of kids being hauled out of rubble is, but I think I hit the wall a fair while back.

Forget who you support, which side you are on, which political spectrum you align to - this is horrifying, a dark stain on humanity.

The fact that there are people being silenced, attacked (and if Suella Braverman has her way) possibly arrested for calling for peace is one of the most morally bankrupt things I have witnessed happening in this country since the Iraq War WMD lies.

I am genuinely appalled and ashamed to be a citizen of a country that in any way supports this.

That’s heartbreaking. So sad.

God Bless that lady for trying to help people both in her work and raising awareness of the genocide.
Not sure Genocide is the correct word to use, Palistine population has grown from 1.8 million to 5.3 million in the past 30 years.. that's kind of the opposite of genocide..

How can you dismiss historical context for what is happening now but insist on sacrosanct status for Remembrance Day events?

History is history but right now is what is important. Protests are needed everyday to try and stop this genocide.

History should not be used as an excuse to create more death today. Remembering people who died on our behalf should be a solemn occasion…well that’s my view anyway……

Nobody is using history to justify death. History provides a context to help us understand the present.

One history does not outweigh another and all that matters is helping people now.

Situation normal, for those of us born under the Stars and Stripes. This is ugly even by our low standards for our government's conduct, though. It's not like the US killed journalists for breaking Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo.

The coverage continues to turn against Israel over here. ABC and CBS are shifting over to showing images of what's happening in Gaza after the ambulance strike. WaPo is reveling in an award-winning NYT columnist being forced out after signing an open letter condemning Israel as being the title of the thread, and conducting a genocide. Only MSNBC continues to sit this one out, by keeping the lens firmly pointed at Trump and burying Gaza coverage.

Even Biden and Blinken should have been able to see that this would go down this way.
