The entire discussion was about the fact that they cannot leave to the south as Israel is directing them to while at the same time bombing that route out.

I think now that they have Gaza city surrounded and all exits/entrances controlled they will use ceasefires to try and move the remaining civpop south, leaving only Hamas holed in their tunnels like rats.

If they want to do that, they will have to get proper food, water and living conditions in there. Stuffing them all into a box without water, sanitation and medical care is just asking for a massive cholera outbreak, which will worsen the water problem when go to they treat them, and the results will unequivocally be genocide.

I believe that’s why the joint U.S./U.K. littoral task force is stationed off the coast. Announce the ceasefire - get the aid in quickly, get the civilians South and then Israel can deal with Hamas.

I can completely accept Hamas is a problem and that's partially why Egypt is refusing to allow them to cross.

Why do they need to escape their homes? Because Israel is bombing every square inch of Gaza.

You might be fine with the murder of civilians to kill a few Hamas but the rest of us are this for the blatant genocide it is.

Three reasons. First, if they let the Gazans in, they're permanently Egyptian. The Israelis will never allow them back. Congratulations, you now have a homeless crisis of two million, half of them kids. Realize that when the European countries take in refugees, they normally agree to take in tens of thousands at a stretch each, which is manageable. Sure, Poland has a milion and a half Ukrainian refugees. They also have a GDP that's 75% greater than Egypt's, and a third of the population. They can absorb the costs. Germany has a million Ukrainian refugees. Similar reason.

Two, Egypt would be pilloried by the Arab world for caving to Israel on this issue, because everyone knows the Gazans can never go back once displaced. Many Gazans and their ancestors were already displaced from their homes once. The entire Arab world remains very angry about that event. For them, it's a "never again."

Three, that lets Hamas in, and Egypt's government very much does not want their own version of Hezbollah within their borders. Let's put it this way. If you're Egypt, and you can prevent Iran from having a foothold in your politics, you do that.

The US knows this from bitter experiences in Afghanistan. I just hope Israel listens to them. For as long as the Palestinians are held down and repressed, there will always be a Hamas.

That sounds like a comprehensive 2 state solution where both peoples can live in peace a security.

Thing is Israel’s settlement activity has deliberately changed the facts on the ground so there is no space for a Palestinian state.

I have been trying to avoid this thread because I get annoyed by the utter rubbish you and a few others post. If the problem is Hamas then why are they killing Palestinians in the West Bank?
