It's a reasonable point to raise. I would agree with the statement that Jews are unique in how they are treated as a group, and for those reasons.

In no way does this free Israel from criticism for its policies, though. In context, stating that the left is an unreliable ally looks suspiciously like a means for justifying the unjustifiable, and pushing back on criticism for reasons wholly unrelated to the criticism.

If you substituted the word socialists instead of Jews it would still fit in regards to Labour/left.

Hamas as a movement doesn't have any problem with Judaism or any religion and don't have any notion of 'killing Jews' (Article 6 in the Hamas covenant) because they are Jewish. But talk about Zionism as does anti Zionist jews.

Hamas don't talk about driving Jews out of Palestine. But living side by side, again, as the anti Zionist jews do. Zionism is the setting up of an exclusive Jewish homeland on Palestine, by confiscating land, houses and businesses off those Palestinians that were there. Mainly with violence. Colonialism. After the war there was talk of many places in the world for a Jewish settlement. There is one in the then Soviet Union, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast (which exists still in Russia), but Zionism only considered Palestine, using biblical/anthropological reasons.
