That just shows how embedded Starmer is in the Establishment. He'd usually go for a majority poll finding like that and tack toward it, but the UK Establishment are buckled into Atlanticism and won't dare cause ripples. That's why Corbyn was set on. I imagine partly because the security services have been caught up with the West Bank since Natanyahu made the utterly demented decision to hand the security portfolio to the self-declared racist and convicted criminal Itamar Ben-Gvir, giving the worst elements of the Settler population the green light to do whatever the hell they want, which mostly involves nightly pogroms against Palestinian villages.

We still don't know - Hamas claim the border was largely unmanned but defended by robotic guns, cameras and the occasional watchtower and that they used snipers to deal with all that. Once the defences were down they claimed (and there is photographic evidence of) used bulldozers to make multiple breaches in the wall, whilst also attacking the manned crossing points and attacking the response forces of those IDF units that were stationed nearby. Drones were also used.

That (and the attack on the Re'im Army Base) probably tied up nearly all the potential military responders, allowing the groups who attacked the rave and the kibbutzim to face only the opposition on the ground at those sites, plus what was on hand within any kind of reasonable travelling distance (which as @Blue 1 states was not much because of what the idiot was doing on the West Bank).

I remember in the early days of Israel when my parents told me about the Stern gang and Irgun, both terrorist organisations. I grew up not really a supporter of the Israelis. Everyone seemed to be a supporter of terrorism and a lot aimed at the British. Time moved on and I saw the 1967 6 day war. This was a concerted effort to destroy Israel, and I was pleased when Israel kicked the arses of the countries attacking them. I’m not in favour of anyone who attacks another for political or religious reasons. I’m not sure if I will ever see some normality in the region, because I haven’t throughout my whole life…..
