No it hasnt been 50 years of hell. War time is hell. Peace time isnt. Situation is tough and after this war Hamas as a political and military force is done. Lets hope new Palestinian leadership will take more peaceful approach.

The Palestinians have never had peace since 1967 because of the Occupation and blockade, continual settler violence, kids being shot and arrested for throwing stones at soldiers, kids having human faeces thrown at them by settlers while on their way to school, midnight raids "looking for terrorists" but often just bored soldiers looking for something to do. Continual harassment at checkpoints. Arbitrary closures of checkpoints. Water supplies being arbitrarily turned off. Houses being demolished. I could go on, like...

I think it is easier than that, you just distinguish between Bibi and Israel - let the likes of Gantz and Lapid know that Bibi has to go, and that full US support will resume when they are winding this back in and blaming absolutely everything on Bibi. He then lets them go after the Hamas leadership abroad whilst the region comes up with a scheme for the longer term peace.

Trump was (IIRC) the first senior US political figure to attack Bibi and Gallant, so I can't really see defending them and throwing the US position in the region (and further afield) work for Biden under any circumstances.

The persuadable Jewish population in Florida is not likely to see things that way. What Trump says doesn't much matter to that dynamic. He'll retain most of the Republican votes, because those people watch Fox. The two-thirds that normally breaks Democratic probably won't decamp, but there's a good chance they stay home in protest.

One major flaw in our media right now is that much of what gets reported is interest-group driven. The voices the left will hear will continue to be rabidly pro-Israel until a breaking point is reached. The subtle framing right now continues to suggest that the IDF is credible where Hamas is not, and MSNBC is now taking the coward's path and aggressively pushing its content on the House Speaker election into the limelight.

You might think that blowing up a hospital would get the job done with our media, but it hasn't yet.
