Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

I suppose if you viewed it through the lens of an activist you might be prone to ignore the thrust of the tactics described in a bigger strategic picture.

That is the problem with a lot of that sort, where its better to raise an absolute horror as an opponent than actually deal with the problem. See also Macron vs Le Pen, Clinton vs Trump etc

Which is rare, given that most of the time they are actively attacking Gaza.

It also depends on your definition of attacking. They control their water supply and only allow Gaza water five days a week, all other water there is toxic. They also control their food and electricity supplies, ensuring neither of those are consistent. They’ve also armed their incredibly cruel and violent ultra right wing settlers and given them carté Blanche to murder Palestinians at will.

By control their water and electricity, do you mean Israel provides it. Why has the independent Gaza Strip not sorted out both for themselves…..I’m not trying to be clever here or score points but why haven’t they ?….Why does it not come in from Egypt for instance ? Do they have water desalination plants ? They have been there for how long……

Exactly more visible as hostages.
I'm looking at it from the point of innocent youth trying their best to enjoy some sort of community. Hurting no one. It's the dead children earlier tonight on the news that pushed me to switch over, I realise the kids at the dance event were young adults, I can't help but see such indiscriminate killing as so terrible. (This is not an accusation, it's upset me greatly today)

You already know the answers to the questions you’re asking but you don’t realise how ignorant they are.

I think the below article by Amnesty explains it better than I could, but effectively the short answer is because Israel said “no, we will control this”.

I think it’s upset most people apart from the extremists…

Wonder why Gaza strip cannot be annexed by Egypt and the West Bank by Jordon? till the united Palestine can be established with a unity govt.

There would be no attack from either to Israel and Muslims would feel at home. Food and power could reach uninterrupted too. Ofc very different cases but I remember a similar suggestion about the western Ukraine and Poland. (Tho never happened)

But that seems to be about the West Bank. I’m talking about Gaza, which is next to the sea and next to Egypt……

I think that’s an incredibly reasonable take. I hope no one misunderstands my posts as I think what they did at that festival and going home-to-home were horrific crimes and you’d have to be mad to support them in any way.

It’s something that sadly seemed was going to happen eventually (not the festival, but the widespread attack on civilians). Having people so deprived and desperate under a cruel apartheid regime, and their only possible salvation or chance for any modicum of revenge being a group like Hamas (who are absolutely not a great bunch of lads, and are realistically closer to ISIS than anything) and then adding on these scumbags settling the West Bank who can act with impunity, and it’s a powder keg.

Okay Pete, let’s put it in simple terms for you. The council shut off all your amenities. Leccy gone, water cut off, you’re not allowed to go the Waitrose. So you say I’ll put in a generator and dig a well, the council say no, your next door neighbour says he’ll share what he has, again the council say no, Ocado come knocking with some shopping for you but once again the council say they’re not allowed to give you anything. How does that seem to you?

“Soon after Israel occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, in June 1967, the Israeli military authorities consolidated complete power over all water resources and water-related infrastructure in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). 50 years on, Israel continues to control and restrict Palestinian access to water in the OPT to a level which neither meets their needs nor constitutes a fair distribution of shared water resources.”

I think Egypt keeps a tight hold on its border with Gaza because it doesn’t want Hamas militants moving in and setting off missiles into Israel from Egyptian territory, like Hezbollah do from the Lebanon……

How exactly do Israel stop Gaza from doing this. They built a wall, Hamas is in charge in Gaza, why are they not just doing it…..
