Is This The Worst Season In Living Memory (Relatively)?

I just thought I'd pose this question because, on the back of 7th place last season and more money spent than ever, this season promised so, so much.
Instead, it's been an abysmal season, pretty much since the first kick of the season.
We did, of course, have much worse seasons in the early 1980s and at various times throughout the 1990s but our expectations were nowhere near as high as they were in the summer of 2017.
So for me, this has to be the worst season relatively speaking. Out of all cups at practically the first hurdle and three managers by Christmas. Enough said!

undoubtedly IMO.

Now, I wasn’t born when last we were relegated so without a doubt it is the most boring, dpressing and lacklustre season I can recall.

And bear in mind one thing.....it has the capacity to get worse because for the life of me I cannot see where the next win is coming from and the teams below us are not as far behind as they were.

yes, there have been other seasons which were over in January and some when we were in mortal danger down among the dead men.

But never after spending so much money on players....this is the fact which makes this season so singular.

It's the most ridiculous to the point of chore, everything that could go wrong has. I'm bored but still more arsed than I was during the Walter Smith era so there's that...

We've ended up with Sam Allardyce as our manager. Doesn't get much worse than that.

Walter smith? I remeber 8 games without a goal at the start of a season. Now we are putting runs of games together without even shooting . Think I remeber 8 goal less draws in a row at goodison to under smith

Relatively speaking it certainly feels like the worst, yes, with all of the signings and enthusiasm at the start of the season.

It just feels like fate is laughing at us for having the nerve to think we could compete towards the top end again.

I fear this year in particular and the last few before will set us back years and we will remain another also-ran at best, just hoping to win a game here and there and never having any hope at all against superior opposition.

We seem to be back at the place we were just when Smith left and all of the years between were for nothing.

This squad of players is a joke and an embarrassment. What sort of stupid, warped world is it when these guys who can’t string two passes together and resemble a gang of one-legged aliens seeing a football for the first time in their lives get paid what they do?

Professional footballers? Premier League footballers? Don’t make me laugh.

Sadly I am just not as exercised about it to the degree I was. I shrug it off for the most part because having any expectations at all of this lot is the worst mistake you can make.

If we indeed end up in the relegation fight right to the final game then yes i would agree.

But currently my opinion it that the 93/94 season was worse.

Honest answer Khal, Sack Allardyce if you can get in Fonseca or even Silva now, the new manager bounce (which Allardcye gave the team (points wise) is basically what we may actually need to avoid being dragged into a fight we don't look to have the characters to win.

Stick with Allardcye and on recent form we will be hoping he 'does an Allardyce' with 3-4 games left, boot him out now, and even if the form only upturns to the same level and for as long as it did for BFS, those 9-10 points will see us well clear.

and in the Summer absolutely allow the new manager to rip the guts out this squad, cos frankly it has none to rip out in a metaphorical way.

Biggest fear - we stay with BFS due to being terrified of changing now, he either takes us down or manages to scrape a last ditch survival, which will make this board again terrified of swapping in the summer and will stay with a manager who will give us another season of relegation battling, and by the end of that season - the damage for whoever comes after will lead the club into a typical Allardcye team aftermath of when he leaves.

Cut the cancer out now as far as this manager, cut the cancer out the team during the summer

Key word here is "relatively". In that respect, I think it is the worse from my personal memory (35 odd years), based solely on the fact that we spent big money at the start of the season in an effort to push on to break top 4 off the back of a fairly decent last season, yet we've some how ended up where we are now, with Allardyce in charge, playing woeful football, knocked out early in both cups and a million miles away from where we want to be.

At least in the 90's when we were truly awful, it was par of the course as that was what we were expecting / had got used to.

Maybe not the worse but probably the biggest let down, we expected better let's face it, every one of us thought we would be pushing a little closer to the top 6 but we have fallen way way further down.

..it depends on how old you are and how good your memory is. @Dario Terracotta remembers every detail from the moment he was born whereas I can’t remember anything after my last pint of Guinness yesterday. Mind you, I did down a few.

The contents of the toilet pan after your first dump of the day will quite adequately reflect Everton’s 2017/18 Season.

Dark...Very Dark.
