Is Martinez our best signing this year?

Lets watch this space on both managers performances this season our former at UNT. and hopefully our new Bobby Dazzler in Martinez !

Of course hence my post, just saying what I think would be decent or not. I think Martinez has the potential to take us onwards rather than backwards, he's also been given the tools in terms of money and squad so potentially we could be starting a very exciting era at our club.

On the flip side of your comment though, I don't see how Moyes failing at United would in any way make him less of a manager during his time with us.
They are now two very separate entities and both managers time here should be judged by what they took over, what they spend, and what that brought us.

My main point was that DM always blamed EFC for not having the funds to push on to better things that argument has now imo dispeared as he has one of the top clubs in Europe - he now has the funds - lets see how good he is with MONEY!

Are you saying he was wrong to think this?

But by the same token you've questioned Martinez bringing in 'poor options' in the transfer market...something Moyes was forced to do on many occasions.

You cant have your cake and eat it, can you?

Didn't Moyes always say 'The chairman usually finds the money I need for transfers' ?

Erm....

It'll be interesting how he does for sure, no significance on how good he was for us, but it will be good to see who he brings in that was outside of Everton's price range.

When was the last time Moyes was given that level of spending without selling players to fund it?

"that level of spending" currently amounts to £5M for a new manager coming in to secure three players...which has probably been covered by getting a number of high wage earners out the door.

Let's not try and make it look like Martinez is getting anything other than the raw deal Moyes got.

In 2008 Moyes spent 6.5m.

Ever since then we have been selling every player not nailed down to recoup that spending, infact, its rumoured that that MASSIVE outlay nearly killed the Club, if it wasnt for Bill begging the banks not to.

We've got £100M to spend this summer though...extra tv revenue I heard.

Sorry that's minus how much did you say?

Unless Robles was free, and Alkaraz didn't want a signing on fee you're looking at a lot more than £5mil. Pretty sure I read repeatedly Robles was 1.5.. That makes it 6.5.. in the positive column. Which is significantly better than losing players without replacement isn't it?
I know you hate him and can't stop trying to find any angle to slate the man, but lets not rewrite Moyes transfer funds as well as his ability.
Martinez has (hopefully) done well with what he's bought so far, but he's had more spending power than Moyes has enjoyed to do it so far.
