I still enjoy it.

I don’t watch as much as I did but that’s because I’m 35 with a baby and a partner.

The content machine of football isn’t aimed at me, like a lot of things in life these days but that’s just how it goes.

There’s not many things in my life that haven’t changed for the worst due to rampant capitalism.

As long as it’s eleven men on the pitch kicking a football I can still enjoy it.

I don’t think the game as a spectacle was better to watch back in the day.

That’s just what everyone thinks as they get older.

You’re all just growing up and don’t have the time to and freedom to sit down and watch football as much as you could.

The actual standard of football is better than it's ever been as a spectacle but the people who run it, from the refs, to the owners, to the governing bodies, to government as a regulator, are idiots.

It's not football, it's society

Don't give up on us yet

I enjoyed that Newcastle v City game last night.

Both teams going for it, and some nice football.

Shame about that VAR decision, and the 10 minute stoppage.

It was way better in the 70s and 80s. A team could win the league then almost get relegated the following season. Players were not money grabbing oinks. The rules were simple and we just accepted (sometimes with a moan) what the ref decided. 3pm on a Saturday was boss. It has all gone nuts now.

I really enjoy the Swedish league. No overhype and the fans get involved so much, great atmosphere. I see others posting about foreign leagues being a better watch, and lower league. The Premier league is Walt Disney. It is usleess unless you support one of the so called big 6. The bias is beyond belief in the media. I, like many others, only watch when Everton are involved.

How football goes in the world, FIFA and here in England. depends on the US government and the US owners of football in this country. The Yanks own football so maybe we have to just accept this and not fight against it. They haven't completely got their hands on UEFA yet, but the Yank owners of lfc gave the ball a further push in Paris before and after their Champions league defeat.

Football as we know knew it is dead. VAR and "subjective decisions"... multi-club ownership... proposed games abroad.... Sports washing from oppressive governments...

Would you ever consider stopping watching?

Things change, that's life. Have you ever gone back and watch really old matches? (ie, not the ones from your youth, but before your youth?) That's not the same game either, and that's ok. The game will never be the shiny, pristine memory of your youth, and some changes will absolutely be worse. Then they go away or are superceded by new changes.

But all changes, in culture, politics, and football are the same--these are baked in from before. These are outputs not inputs, and the result of changes long prior. Go for a walk, talk to someone in the pub, listen to the noise of industry and conversation on the street, touch some grass. If you decide to pause and watch some football, good for you. And if you decide you don't want to watch, good for you.

The football is still good but the coverage of it is just absolutely awful now. It’s just lazy cliche driven punditry or co commentary for clicks and the endless podcasts around the game now are just repetitive regurgitated rubbish.

Nothing is ever said on any of these platforms that the bloke down the pub couldn’t tell you about football.
