Football as we know it is dead. VAR and "subjective decisions"... multi-club ownership... proposed games abroad.... Sports washing from oppressive governments...

Would you ever consider stopping watching?
Got mates who’ve given up and I’ve come close , started attending and enjoying other sports a lot more as well .

Under benitez was probably as near as I’ve been, After last week I honestly feel like I could do without them but suddenly I start thinking about the Villa game but even more the Leeds match and meeting up with the lads and those that sit by me and I’m Back in .

I’m certainly a little disillusioned and What has happened is I don’t really plan my life around our fixtures any more .

I’ve tried… but my dad did too good a job indoctrinating me into Everton… I’m too entrenched to leave the sport.

“I’m not a football fan, I’m an Everton supporter.”
Said this constantly since the points deductions/SLY six leaving shenanigans,I wouldn’t want anything to do with “top level” football if it wasn’t for my love of Everton and hoping against hope we can kick back against the likes of Masters and the “establishment”👍

It's just something people muse, but continue to watch.
I mean the thread seems to stem from another VAR incident (I think?), which I didn't see and wouldn't have learned about if it wasn't mentioned in the today's football thread as I don't bother watching other teams really.

"Not gonna watch it" and then watching ties between teams you don't support is... something.

I think it's better if the definition of 'football' is clarified a little more: Everton ; the Premier League ; other English leagues/Non League ; European competitions or the World Cup.

To be fair, we at Everton Football Club have been boycotting it for nigh on 30 years now...

I am completely indifferent to football this year without the gut wrenching anxiety of will Everton get relegated and cease to exist. Completely unarsed if honest.

I think a real game changer on a larger scale will be the FIFA 2026 World Cup in the truly frightening re incarnation of Nazi Germany. Can't wait to see how FIFA " play" this.

At this point I watch Everton, the finals/interesting matches in the later stages of the CL/EL and the World Cup and Euros, rarely anything else and if it happens it's usually with friends and the match isn't the main thing.
