Which is why I find the NFL refreshing and shocked that the US of A has the most socialist league in the world but hates the concept of socialism at the same time.

Brought this topic up almost 8 years ago...took a while.

VAR put the final nail in the coffin for me. When a contested ball breaks to a player running away from goal and he's given offside (well one heel and one arse cheek was) you know it's time to start watching table tennis.

They also talk about Frank Capra movies as all American classics despite being distinctly anti-capitalist. The NFL delivers every season, that it ends the same time as super league starts pretty much is a joy for me

Top level footy has become nothing more than a scripted soap opera. The 7 days a week games, match going fans shuffled about AOTS to keep the tellyclappers happy, VAR, nation states owning clubs etc etc.

If it wasn't for the 50+ yrs of suffering Everton i don't think I'd bother watching any games any more. NFL is better, never thought I'd see myself saying that!

@Cecil

Var is a joke but the whole referees in general it’s like they have to be more and a big thing made about them now days. Have ref watch one sitting on soccer Saturday there opinions during commentary in the champions league it’s not normal. When you didn’t notice the ref you knew he had a decent game now it’s like they want to be seen to create this drama.

I only watch us, so Im almost there.

I used to watch alll the CL footy, and as much of the other leagues as I could.

Now I think they have just over diluted it. You can watch premier leauge footy from 12:30 saturday right through till 9:30pm. Sunday is 2pm - 6-7pm?

Every team is just a copy + paste in terms of tactics and play style.

I cant remmeber the last time I watch a game where I was on the edge of my seat, where it was end to end.

If you could watch a game and all the players just had default fae, and no names on the kits, and neutral couloured kits, youd be hard pressed to say who was playing who.

Theres no excitment - a few years ago we had players like Okocha, Taraabt? who even though they werent world class they would excite you.

Add in VAR and there is nothing worth watching.

If it werent for us, I wouldnt watch a game!

It's oversaturated.
Games on last night with empty stands.
May as well stick the 3pms Saturday on legally.

Go and support your local lower division clubs.

Corruption is rife...how can city still buy players?

It wouldn't take much to push me over the edge and ditching football. I'd probably be better off for not wasting my time. But until whatever straw breaks this particular camel's back, I'm sticking to watching Everton and a few bits and bobs.
