Is it ever right to want Everton to lose?

That Man City game, it wasn't that I was actively wanting us to concede goals and lose, I don't think I could ever do that in a live game.
It was more looking at the outcome at the end and thinking that defeat in that match was an OK outcome, given the alternative which would have been utterly intolerable.
Losing that game had no lasting negative impact on us.

In the Martinez era, when we we're getting beat I'd want the opposition to score more goals to highlight how bad we we're to the board and increase the chances of him being sacked. I don't see what wanting us to beat for example Sunderland towards the end of his reign would have achieved, much better for the future of the club that we got hammered.

Imagine having to suffer "Everton AV WON MORE TITLES FOR US DAN DEMSELVES IN 30 YEARS HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" every day for the last 3 years. I'm alright cheers, I'll take the defeat.

Not caring what they "say" and not wanting to see them crowned Champions are two totally different things, Bruce ;)
Or. We've just romped to the league, the RS are languishing at the bottom, it's between them and Bournemouth for the drop. Bournemouth only have to equal their result to stay up and send the RS down, and it is they who visit Bramley Moore pokemon stadium for the final game.
It's a carnival atmosphere, party poppers, balloons, Mosh has spared no expense. It's a tense game, we've got our flip flops on ready to party. Neither side are able to score, but then a murmur begins to spread, the RS are beating Palace away.
In to the final minute, then Fat Ash, who's just signed a 15 year contract extension, clothes lines their centre forward in the area.

PENALTY!!!!!

I know what outcome I want.

Of course it is......if the circumstances are right.

Everton 2 Manchester City 3

Who among us would go back in time and reverse that result given the dire consequences that would have flowed from it.

I recall jumping up when Ross opened the scoring with a scorcher that day....lol

That Man City game was a weird day. Regardless of the consequences, during a game I'd never want Everton to lose. In hindsight however, I'm glad we lost that one. I won't remember a fairly obscure league result several years down the track, but the RS would certainly remind us if they won the league that season.

When plenty are thinking it and some are even saying it out loud, it means one thing and one thing only.

It's sunk that low it can't get any worse (yes it can). Which in turn means - Taxi for whoever is the cause of this agony.

When the faux outrage mob then pile in - and they will, they forget it's just a exercise in futile angst, along the lines of...Will nobody rid me of this turbulent priest...not for one minute expecting any thing to happen, (but the inner voice thinks it won't be the end of the world if it did if it gets rid of the current clown/fraud/etc/etc)

Solution;
1) Improve...a 'kin lot - quick.
2) Sack the Clown/fraud/etc/etc...even quicker.

I think a lot of people have a short attention span now and no appetite for the long haul.

I call it the fantasy football syndrome. Oh I'm bored with this manager. Let's see how this guy will look instead.

Can't believe anyone would want to see us actually lose though.

Same as many of us
As soon as the game kicked off I wanted us to win
Enjoyed winding the rs before and after the game saying I wanted us to lose
But no never want us to lose

Depends on your reason for wanting us to lose. As others have said I was quite happy to see us lose to Man City that day in 13-14 to prevent the RS winning the league but apart from a situation like that id never want us to lose. Even during the Martinez era I was always desperate to be proven wrong and see the team come good and get a good reault. I don't get how anyone can hate a manager enough to want to see your own team lose.
