Is Everton a 'Big Club'

I scoured the news and expected some media reaction to the effect of "Everton fans, what do you think of your club now turning toward Sam Allardyce after having been rebuffed by a number of big name managers. What does this say about where your organisation is right now?".

Nothing.

They dont see it as an issue. They think we go together with a Sam Allaerdyce appointment every bit as much as Sunderland or Palace would naturally turn to a manager like that.

Our status has been cratered. It's in the dumpster. The best of the rest pat on the head has ben easily forgotten and we're now just a struggling outfit with a flaky owner just like all the no mark clubs around us.

19 months of Moshiri and 16 months of Koeman has wrecked what we had. And I expect this to get worse not better.

Booo! Not you davek, but the message because it's spot on... almost... well I pray that there is a chink of daylight that it's not so. On Radio 5 this morning when I was on my way to work, they asked Kevin Kilbane what the opinion was about Fat Scam's appointment. He side stepped the question with great aplomb - I just have the impression that no one in our lauded press and media wants to rock before he comes so they can have their easy stories and rent-a-quotes from Big Fat Scam, but they know we are not content.

We're well on our way to becoming a basket case club a la Sunderland or Villa if we're not careful. Bigness be damned. Small clubs run well will do well against the perceived odds. A club our size, should be guaranteed success and trophies if run correctly and effectively. Nothing since 1995? Well guess how long we have been run badly for? Probably since Harvey didn't achieve the level of success we hadn't been expecting after Kendall left.

But how to we reverse this trend? I don't know. A huge slice of luck. I just don't know where the replay against Oxford is to ignite something in us.

Imagine what happens when/if this stadium deal hits the buffers and looks a no go.

He will retreat and finances will be withdrawn and he'll be looking for a sale of his shares and the £80M debt he holds over the club.

We are in a VERY vulnerable position.

We currently have a big caretaker manager. He is to be replaced by a big(ger?) manager. He will certainly be on a big salary. His rumoured assistant is also big. We are currently in big trouble. Biggly.

Of course we are
But we are acting like a 4th tier club just now
The shambles at Leyton Orient springs to mind .
If a company was run this way it'd be closed within weeks
Suprised the PL bosses hasn't banned the club for a couple of games

Historically yes, currently no. Not many have won what we've won but how long ago was that again? Need to put ourselves back on the footballing map with some trophies, but that seems so far away right now.

Hiring Sam Allardyce is akin to waving the white flag and wearing a sign saying "we're happy to be on a level footing with West Brom - in fact, new motto; nothing but survival is good enough."

The moment he signs on that dotted line, we're not a big club anymore. Any pretence at ambition is finished.
