Is anyone else worried

I think the worst thing is that I had much more hope last season than this.

I think sigurdsson probably suits a team like Swansea more than us because of his style. I think klaasen wont be a premier league player. Ramirez perhaps will make it but maybe this league is too physical for him and he would be better suited abroad.
Rooney was an ok acquisition but he hasn't got enough about him these days to be any more than a decent squad player.

How anyone can look at this season with optimism I'm not sure. But I think it's going to be worse than 7th and I was saying this as soon as the transfer window slammed shut.

I didn't like koemans post match interview either, what a load of rubbish blaming it on the fluke goal. Spurs completely dominated and there was only ever going to be one winner yesterday. I find it interesting how he tries to justify it by saying well they are title contenders and one of the best teams. There are 6 teams similar up there we are supposed to be trying to get competitive with. Yesterday was a horror show far worse the the last time spurs visited us.

I think this is going to be the worst everton season for a long time. It's a very bad thing that a lot of players have high expectations this season but look nowhere near the level of gaining it. That mentality could lead to some very inept performances and bad vibes in the dressing room

The season we finished 4th in 2005 was because it was an all or nothing approach by a team who were limited yet very resilient and full of belief with nothing to lose. This season koeman started it by saying we are now the next level and it's time to start performing at that level. We are nowhere near that and believing your better than you are when your not can lead to profligacy and underperformances

The cry babies said @davek was trolling and cried to the mods to make him stop.

Guess what, he was pretty much spot on in his assessment.
...the signing of Gueye and Schneiderlin and Davies' emergence was enough. No need to get Klaassen in for one.

We also need a mobile (and preferably good in the air) striker to lead the line.

Here's what will happen if we dont get one: when we're at home we'll see opponents sit deep and frustrate, and they'll allow FBs to get forward and wont be too bothered by it as they'll bank on dealing with that by shutting down space for crosses/space in the box; away from home we'll have an attack that has almost no pace that cant see us counter with any real effect.

I posted a thread a few weeks back about the potential problem of us having a pop gun attack: I think with 3 weeks to the season's start that problem is looming ever more largely. I suggest something is done about it...quickly.

We're a club that finished 7th on the strength of the goals and assists of a player who just left us. THAT'S where we are in reality.

On the striker issue: I stated that the fear is we'll start with a pop gun attack...and with every passing week that ticks by it is a fear that many others will share too.

Even if Giroud and Sigurdsson come here, I'm pinning my hopes on Sandro to make us a threat upfront.

Lukaku gone and Barkley going - there is no one we have or would have in the attacking third that has any sort of pace to trouble teams. Set pieces we'll be catered well for. Getting behind teams - especially away from home and especially against the top teams - will be nigh on impossible.

He cant blend a team.

Been saying it for months. His fixation with players in the middle of the park has cost us tens of millions on needless signings whilst we are weak elsewhere.

Johnjoeefc I agree with most you said, but Klaassen should have his shirt number taken from him as he is very close
to Niasse for performance. Whoever finally owns up to the signing of Niasse, will probably say that they signed him on
someone elses hearsay. But Klaassen is a different kettle of fish, Koeman has known this kid since he was a kid, and
despite seeing him play hundreds of times, still bought him, so how can the man justify watching Barkley play 4 times
before going on to 'slate' him to 'Sky' and the papers. I believe that Koeman has made a bigger mistake than 'Big Sam'
and should be likewise 'Shown the door' by our 'Spineless board'.

The team that came 4th had Cahill, Gravesen/Arteta, and Martin. Currently not one player in the starting line up can touch the standard they were at then.

What I don't understand is why are are still playing 2 DMs. Of whom both provide no attacking strength.

We've been doing it for years under Martinez and Moyes as well during the end.

e.g. just from a quick look at yesterday's line ups

City - Fernandinho
Liverpool - Henderson
Arsenal - Xhaka (def) & Ramsey (att)
Spurs - Dier (def) & Sissoko (att)
United - Matic
Stoke - Fletcher (deff) & Allen (att)

How many times did Sissoko come running late into the box. 3 maybe 4 times. Each time he had great chances to score.

When was the last time Gueye or Scheinderlin got into the opposition box and not just for a corner or free kick?

I'm going to say once since the season begun and that was Gueye and his goal in the EL.

It's such a dire way of setting a team up. If you play 2 then one attacks the other stays back and they should both either be able to move on a pendulum the complete opposite to each other or one of them provides all the defensive cover and the other attacks.

Look at Kante, he does it all at Chelsea and leaves Fabregas or who ever else is next to him to control the game. Why can't Gueye be on his own and Klaassen or Sigurdsson control the game, or be the late runner like Ramsey does for Arsenal.

tldr; arm chair manager knows more about setting up a 2 man midfield than a PL manager.

But it's bloody obvious so sort it out Koeman!!

January arrives and the window opens.
Putting aside that any signing we do make will be right on the deadline, which proven goalscorer would a) first of all be available, and b) want to go to a club that on current form will be languishing in the bottom half of the table.
So its a yes from me, I am worried.

Agree with this - and we don't have Lukaku who teams knew they had to focus on to try and keep him from scoring. They can now just focus on stopping the ball as there's no one for us to aim for.

It's now watching a bunch of sort of midfielders sort of forwards running into traffic and getting nowhere.

Really disappointed by yesterday's performance and hope we pull our finger out in the Europa League to build up some positive feeling. It was all lost due to the time taken to sign Gylfi and the drama with Ross will he go will he stay.

My hopes rest on DCL playing up front - Jesus, remember when he lined up at right wing back?

I truly believe it'd be different if we had Giroud + another decent LCB, and I was also pro keep Barkley/leave Siggy- but yeah he was massively cult of sin miedo to a fault.
I don't think Giroud would have been the answer, alright, he seems to play quite well against us and scores as well. Wenger always
starts with Welbeck before Gioud if fit, Other than to Arsenal supporters, Wengers no mug and has handled his fair share of the
Prems greatest players (He'd do me instead of this Dutch tulip). Welbeck is another, he is very ordinary, certainly not international class.
