The WTO looks more inviting than the belligerents in the EU - withdraw the 40 billion they will soon come up with a solution on the Irish border then!

Once the backstabbing Lords did what they did the rest was inevitable. They are just applying more pressure for us to remain in a customs union. However the timing of the Commonwealth gathering and the soundings obtained will either stiffen or weaken May’s resolve. We leave in less than one year, economic benefit and reality will enter the discussions as time moves on. WTO rules holds no fears for the U.K.

The DP today a electronic solution and inland Renee system had been worked out and accepted by some in the EU - you are right our old farts the Remoaners just gave the EU bullets to dismiss this and put negotiations on hold - typical EU no wonder the U.K. Voted Out !

The Fantasy Island Unicorn model I believe the EU knew the proposals as Joey.

The natural extension must surely be to replace the border with a big rainbow :)

we have the technology!!

But we do have the technology. Technology moves at a speed unknown in any other discipline. Look at your phones, look at the fact that we are are now up to iPhone whatever. Technology can deliver whatever we want, the only thing that holds it back is imagination. If my 50 years in technology companies has taught me anything its that in 2 years from now, what can be achieved only exists in the minds of some really clever people. Never say that a technological solution doesn’t exist, because tomorrow it will.........

Cool, cool, Pete,
It's just that since the last time we had this argument I havent seen any proposals for how this might work, none. And I'm 20 years in the tech industry and still going.
The only solution here is for the 6 counties to remain in the common market, which works out fine because that's what the rest of the UK will be doing anyway.
All this furor and you'll end up with the same market and movement but less control.
But the UK will be fine.........

If you are really in the hi technology industry then you know what I say is correct. Today’s technology is tomorrow’s junk. It’s just another stepping stone for the engineers.....

I don’t really care what the EU wish to go for. At the moment they are just being awkward in the extreme. Both The ROI and Germany have economies that will suffer if no deal is done. Both are playing with fire in respect of their own people. We would also suffer, but we would bounce back quickly through new business which won’t happen to the ROI within the EU. We can all play hardball but eventually if realism doesn’t come through then the EU negotiators will be responsible for undermining their own people. The 17.4 Million people who voted for Brexit expected things to get tough, because we were beaten to death with dire consequences, even though they haven’t, so mentally we are prepared. I’m not sure the ROI population are quite as prepared......

I heard Edwina Currie on the radio earlier making a Pete style technology argument that went along the lines of 'of course we have the technology, I can plug my car in to my house, it's electric, it has no gears!'
You couldnt make it up!

The difference is that she has no technology background, I have been, seen and done pretty well everything that exists today, from telecoms, business systems, medical, power, transport technology through defence technologies and space and satellite systems. I can’t keep up with the rate of change and anyone who says they can is a fool......

ok, it's just that no one has proposed how this tech might work.
Everyone's waiting for the UK to propose how this might work.
- We want to leave
- OK, how are you going to do that
- we don't know, you figure it out.
- no, you figure it out.
- ok well my car can plug in to my house so we're half way there.

But that’s how technology develops. We have a need. Some solutions may exist. We want better. What’s the market. For this type of technology it could be worldwide, an electronic borderless planet. What will it take to develop, well throw £500M for basic models and another £1Bn for prototypes and £2-£3Bn for final product. I can think of a dozen German, French, Spanish, Italian and British companies who would jump at the opportunity and will promise models by Christmas, prototypes by 2019 and final product by the time we finally leave. Anything can be done, it just needs imagination and money.......

One has to look back on Cameron (again), when he scuppered Cleggs HOLs reform back in 2012. Cameron, tactical genius or just short term partisan politics, whatever it has played well for remain.
