Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

there won't be a hard border because NI will be in the same trading block as the rest of the island. If Brexit has any chance, this will have to happen. of course the DUP will likely bring down the government over it but they won't be king makers in the next government.
Good luck explaining to the Scots why they cant still remain in the single market.

Neither NI nor the Scots will be in the single market, both are part of the U.K. and we will either all be in or all be out......

I think the ROI will suffer because of EU intransigence, NI will of course be helped by the U.K. but I’m not sure that the ROI will get the same level of support from the EU.......
They probably will get government support but that completely avoids the issue I brought up, which is undeniable.
Doesn't matter how much money the UK plough in to the north, if EU prices are cheaper for a prolonged period and theres no border, Derry, Omagh, Enniskillen, Armagh, Newry all suffer.

Why would EU prices be cheaper, the U.K. intends to open up free trade which will reduce most prices as we won’t be placing tariffs on imports........

They could be cheaper because of economic uncertainty leading to rapid inflation in the UK.
Doesn't matter which side is cheaper tho, one will suffer with your plan.

OK, so how do you solve the border issue.
You're going with, lets hope stuff in the UK is cheaper than stuff in the EU.
Almost as big a gamble as voting out.

For the U.K. there will be no border issue. We are quite happy just to leave it open, it’s only the EU who wants there to be a problem......

I started writing a reply to this which was a bit ‘off the hip’, you are right that someone would suffer, if it is the NI business then the U.K. will have to find a way to help them, however it is more likely to be the ROI business and I’m not so sure they will get EU help. The people crossing the border however will get whatever is best......

Debates ? LOL

You charge around sniping at other posters with your snidey comments trying to pick fights and you call that debating.

Go and have a lie down and sober up fella.

Still you add nothing......if all you want to do is trade insults then find someone else as you are beginning to show yourself up on here......

Can you not see how reckless this tack is?
