Good man Simon - one of the finest Ministers to whom I worked. Polite, intelligent, incisive, and i have never seen him getting shirty with civil servants even, memorably, when briefing him at 1.30 a.m. in Brussels after a long hard day of EU Council.

Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney told his British counterpart Liz Truss that the decision to introduce legislation to override the Northern Ireland Protocol “marks a particular low point in the UK’s approach to Brexit”.

In a phone call with the UK Foreign Secretary this morning, Mr Coveney insisted the legislation being published today will breach the UK’s commitments under international law is “deeply damaging to relationships” between Ireland and Britain.

Pete, please don't tell me that truss could be PM???

Last couple of pages here have been great.

Even though the main driver for brexit was taking control of our borders, we didn't actually want control of the borders, the EU did.

And since we forgot that the UK has a land border with the EU while we were voting, we should just give away Northern Ireland. Presumably so we have a more secure border even though we didn't want a border.

Its 2018 all over again. A UK foreign minister trying to outflank a UK PM by getting brexit nutcases on side.

Jesus.
yea, this seems to be modern politics everywhere.
Extremists get voted in to fringe power by using the internet to whip up sensational emotions.
The real power players have the moderates on board but need the extremists so make them impossible promises.
When they topple because of broken promises, the next to take their place makes the same impossible promises and so on and so forth.
Happening in the States all the time and at every level.

Wright Bus company in Ballymena has just got an order for 120 new electric buses from..... the ROI.
With an agreement for 800 in total. (800!)

They got an order from Cologne for 60 hydrogen powered buses only a few weeks.

Without the protocol, neither of these would happen

Irish government has secured more jobs in Ballymena than the sitting MP Ian Paisley.
