Ouch, on first look.

However if you were being machiavellian, you might suggest that this is a perfectly timed assistive interview to polarise the unionist vote ahead of an election by triggering fear - the DUP in real trouble trailing both SF and the Alliance party in the polls.

I see Tweets from the DUP now putting the fear of god in Unionist voters since the interview with the secretary for state about the protocol. Poor form overall for me.
Falling behind Alliance?? Wow. Jeffrey making a pig's ear of this.

As much as I love to see their wee puckered faces nodding their heads in outrage, it will probably mean they won't go into Stormont with SF and consequently we'll be left rudderless again (which they cash their big pay checks). They're shameless!
If they don't finish 2nd does that not mean they have sfa say in getting the Executive back and running???

They want to be able to go on their hols to Spain without getting held up as non EU citizens - simple. A UK passport means going into a long non EU citizens queue
yeah, but blue passports. The one tangible benefit of brexit (if you're allergic to burgundy that is) and they turn their noses up at it?
Disgraceful

All this would achieve is re- affirming what Republicans have said since Partition regarding the democratic legitimacy of NI.

Refusal to serve as a ‘Deputy’ FM would also turbo charge the calls for a border poll.

The DUP’s support of Brexit will surely rank up there as one of the greatest political errors ever.

What happened mate? I was watching the match and now catching up
It was expected that the Queen’s speech would detail new legislation to allow the U.K. to unilaterally change elements of the Protocol if they so wished. SOS Brandon Lewis said last night this won’t be happening and referred to working with Brussels to review issues with the Protocol.

Not quite as simple as that. For starters they will finish second.

In the event that Alliance finished second, they would have to designate themselves as Unionist for the DUP not to have a FM post.
Which they would designate themselves as. No way the alliance would align as nationalist either way the dup would be snookered.

The other concern people should have is aontú and independents being sponsored by evangelical America, although they already financially support the dup etc, gaining any momentum in nationalist areas.

The royals have been trying to court Ireland for years. No chance Windsor castle was going to jeopardize that for the present cabinets follys.

I saw polling only 13% at lunchtime - any update ? Closing at 10 pm I think. Do they count tonight or leave it until tomorrow??
Working all day BR and haven’t seen a thing. What I can say though is that I voted around 12.30 and there was no queue whatsoever.

They normally only start counting the next morning which is embarrassing when you see across the water racing to get their votes counted first.
