So what. As long as it works for NI and ROI. When will you learn that this is just a negotiating card for the EU and they will attempt to cynically use it for their apparent benefit.......

You never answered the question, which was, 'How does the UK stop EU migrants getting into the UK i.e Northern Ireland, by the backdoor according to Hoey, without putting border controls on the island of Ireland to check EU migrants? The Tories have said that controlling the UK's border is a red line. Obviously, red lines are there to be broken.

WUMs never answer the question, they just try to derail threads.

Here’s a thought.

Whatever way the Tory backwoodsmen or the DUP want to cut it, Northern Ireland is clearly in a totally different position to England.

And not just geographically.

Upward of half the population want their country out of the UK, never mind the EU.

And a quick look at the electoral map of that province will soon show how the people who will be expected to have this “hard border” re-introduced into their midst would feel about it.

They will not be very gruntled. To say the least.

Commonsense dictates that N. Ireland is going to need some kind of “Special Status” after Brexit.

It is nothing short of disgraceful that it is the EU being left to make the running on this whilst the UK government sits staring into the stoat’s gaze of the DUP, a party which would probably opt to build a Trump type wall from Newry to Derry if given the choice.

Our own government should be leading the way in finding a decent solution for its own tax paying citizens who once again face being made to feel like strangers in their own land.

So here’s my two bits.

Why not put the matter to the NI people in a Referendum?

The DUP does not speak for the majority of people over there.....though thanks to the continued and anachronistic madness that is Sinn Fein abstentionism one would be forgiven for thinking so....and Remain won a bigger victory in Northern Ireland than Brexit did in England.

So let’s put it to the people.

Vote on Special Status.....YES or No.
Spot on mate.

May is a coward and a traitor; a self-serving individual who would literally gamble with the lives of people in order to stay in power as a prisoner to extremists.

She is utterly 'kin repulsive.

Indeed, Dave.

May and the DUP are like two shipwrecked sailors clinging on each other’s life raft in the sea.

May needs the DUP to keep her in power.

The DUP need May to remain in power to save them from Jeremy’s new approach to Brexit.

But you know what?

Sinn Fein could totally change the landscape at Westminster and inject a dose of reality into the Tory negotiators in Brussels by just going in and taking their seats.

This outdated abstentionist nonsense impresses no one and is actually to the delight of their enemies.

“Do what your enemy least expects” was the doctrine of all great military leaders from Alexander to Napoleon.

If they only turned up to vote on any Brexit settlement it would represent a 14 seat turnaround or sommat in any final deal vote.

I think they have seven M.P.s so that would mean seven votes more for the sensible heads and seven votes the Tories can’t just discount.

I did explain it. As I said migrants can always get into the U.K.. But at the moment we are unable to expel them because we are in the EU and they are allowed to be here, I.e, we have no control. When we leave the EU they will not be able to work or claim benefits unless they arrive legally, I.e someone we want. Anyone found subsequently to be here illegally can be thrown out, I.e we have control. It doesn’t require armed guards, fences and dogs.......

And all they have to do is swear allegiance to the Queen.......

It would represent their acknowledging the sovereignty of British rule in N.I. though. They'd be bankrupt in ideological terms and lose a lot of their core support both sides of the border...and they're seen already as sell outs in the minds of a lot of people.

WUMs never answer the question, they just try to derail threads.

Having made the point that there are only a number of bodies who can address the issue raised in the ‘football manager wears a ribbon’ thread, I’m called a WUM because your beloved EU has totally ignored the issue......ok, I see your logic.....

What you are saying is that EU migrants can go to the Republic, go onward to say Belfast, and get on a plane or boat and go to the mainland, and when they get to the mainland they will be checked for the correct documentation. What happens if they don't have the correct documentation where will they be deported to?

Who cares ?, unless they apply for refugee status they are no drain on the economy and are basically on holiday. Ireland of course not being in Schengen will have picked up any real refugees at their own border controls on the way in from mainland Europe........

By agreeing to the Good Friday Agreement, SF already recognise British sovereignty in the north (principle of consent).

I haven’t noticed any real clamour for them to take seats in Westminster though.

Well, I'm no expert, but wasn't their advocacy of the GFA more of an acknowledgement of the reality of the balance of forces at that point in time rather than giving up the objective of a United Ireland?
