I’ve no idea what you guys are trying to prove or score points on. NI has left the EU, but retains easy access to ROI for products. Access for people is covered by the CTA. NI is also in the U.K. and will take part in any trade deals done by the U.K. for NI it’s a win win. The ROI is still in the EU and will continue to pay €3Bn a year for the privilege, meanwhile NI will pay nothing. So you guys can prove anything you want but for NI they are in a good place, and you should all be happy, but I guess you won’t be.....

NI is not in the EU....
You keep yourself kidded with that one. The six counties are treated differently to Great Britain since 31 December. The 'UK' has lost control of the border in Ireland and has had to, at the insistence of the EU, install sea borders. Northern Ireland is thus not the same as the 'mainland' in the way it deals with imports and exports. NI is now more EU than British, something you acknowledged to Khalekan when you said that it benefits by being on the island of Ireland.

Oh, and that’s also an interesting point, besides any debt and pensions, if NI were ever to join with the ROI, then the island of Ireland would have a bigger GDP and hence pay an even larger yearly sum to Brussels...what would NI gain ?.....

That doesn’t really matter does it. NI is in the U.K., it is not in the EU, it just has a special arrangement, like Gibraltar will have and doesn’t pay into the EU’s coffers, unlike the ROI. I think it’s worked out really well for them.....

I don’t think anyone is trying to score points here Pete. NI voted to Remain along with the rest of the island as it was common sense. If we must endure any sort of Brexit then this is it.

The EU has been essential to the basket case that London created and maintained in NI and this was reflected in the Referendum vote.

Can you deny that NI isn’t in a better place due to the EU? Can you deny that NI didn’t need the investment and political support of the EU?

Words of a bested man too proud to admit it.

If it is in the UK, why aren't it's people treated the same? Why aren't it's borders protected the same? Special arrangement for fhe 6 counties? There's your acknowledgement that they are not the same in Ireland as British citizens in Great Britain.

I think they are. I posted a comment saying that NI is basically getting the best of all worlds and then Khalekan jumps in with something about the EU and then they all Pat each other on the back as if they’ve proven something.

I’m made up for NI, they deserve the best of everything, but my question would be if they are getting whatever benefits K and Co think the EU gives, and they are getting whatever benefits I think the U.K. gives, why would they give It up.....
