I think it's a bit silly that Ireland postponed that commemoration of the RIC because of Sinn Fein's sensitivities and complaints. The Royal Irish Constabulary no doubt worked hard, took casualties, faced dangerous situations regularly, tried its best to follow the law (and the terrible mistakes from them are all very well known - indeed this would have been an opportunity to again remember those). I do think the nationalist complaints from today's Irish politicians over something that happened almost 100 years ago sets a bad example and was really quite poor.

People need to learn to forgive and forget. It's an important part of life. It would be like the Japanese PM coming to the UK and people turning their backs on him because of the terrible way POWs were treated 75 years ago. I admire people who can forgive and forget. The government should have held the commemoration regardless of nationalist sentiment as an example to others of the need to grow, forgive and recognise the good and hard work of many that have served.

We rejected the tans, the people are never wrong

You're talking about something that occurred 100 years ago... Time to forgive and leave behind the grievances, wouldn't you say?

The people clearly don't think so and as you say yourself:

The people are the best judges and the only judge that matters. All of the propaganda is irrelevant and they will always see through it all.

Let's compare:

2018, London: The German President will attend the UK's commemorations for the centenary of the end of the First World War on Remembrance Sunday. President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will lay a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the German people in an historic act of reconciliation.

2020, Dublin: Ireland has decided to postpone a token, bit part commemoration because Sinn Fein politicians and people who had nothing to do with events 100 years ago want to carry on the grievances for another generation...

It had no popular support from the people who hated the idea. The people are always right and see through the propaganda

No popular support? It was the Irish government that proposed the commemoration, and guess who elects the Irish government? You are talking about a number of small-minded Sinn Fein politicians that opposed it because they are stuck in the past.

Prev.....is this nonsense likely to become an issue in the forthcoming Election in the Republic?

I expect it would have done had it not been “postponed” by the Fine Gael led government as they would be the party trying to foist this absurd notion on the people.

You are not Irish. I can tell you that everyone hated the idea so they dropped it, because the Irish people saw through the propaganda

Only small minded little Irishmen hate the idea. Suggesting you speak for everyone is a laugh!

A look at Ireland's short history will tell you how stupid and selfish these little Ireland types can be...

Ireland was neutral in the 2nd Word War. Consider what that means. It means that Ireland was just as happy with a Hitler victory as it was with the Allies victory. So while the boys of Belfast were bombed to bits and giving their lives for the future of democracy and the Free World, the closed and small minded little Paddies were too busy counting the leaves on a clover. Real classy, Ireland.
