majority of new voters in North and South Belfast are from traditional Unionist areas. Given that the birth rate would not support these demographics then you would wonder where these new blocs have come from although the Pan Unionist Politicians/Loyalist Paramilitary rallies around the North have played a big role.
I wonder would that be because the changing demographics are seeing Catholics move into what were previously “unionist” districts, Army?
The only reason the Sinners or any Nationalists are neck and neck in the Belfast North constituency is because the Antrim Road, almost 100% Protestant a generation ago, is now the opposite.
When I was young and visiting family in north Belfast in the summer, the Limestone Road was a no go area for young Catholics but now that part of the constituency is very Catholic friendly.
Ditto in Belfast South.....loyalist heartlands in the Lisburn Road and Tate’s Avenue are now bursting at the seams with Catholic students from Tyrone and Armagh or immigrants.
Not to mention the affluent Malone area, which is largely populated these days with people from west Belfast of their children.
lol
