All interested parties will want their ideal deal. Its called negotiation, and is part of said democratic process. We were asked if we wanted to leave the EU. Not "How?"

We left that bit to the politicians to sort out. As you continually say, remainers should accept the democratic vote. I do. I will also have to accept the final deal, as will you. Even if you disagree with it. Its Democracy Joe.
Sorry the was a months debate - £8 million leaflet on the single market the customs union if you voted Out we would be leaving it - so how clear in people's minds with tv debates etc etc
A massive turn out and the democratic vote was out to infer people never knew what they were voting for is totally ludicrous- again I enthersise the CBI and the rich want us to stay in for their own gains not the people who at last put two fingers up to the establishment!
Just look at the way the EU are bargaining bullyboys - fetch on a 2nd referendum, and the results will be in more in outs favour the projectt fear tactics keep coming and still prove to be wrong so far - the economy the emergency budget forecast if a vote out has never happened the predicted mass of a loss of 400,000 jobs has been the other way around what more can project fear get wrong????

Erm... no it wasn't. Well it was initially and then it wasn't, because the DUP said NO again. So May came up with a form of words to appease them for a while, and avoided the issue by kicking it down the line to be revisited at a future date.

It hasn't gone away y'know.
Yes it's in the next round of negotiations a solution will be sorted or we walk away!

I was talking about the Irish Border issue Joe. We do have a separate EU thread for you to tell us that 17m voted out.

We have to let the politicians sort it out, then accept their decision, or, if they put the final deal, including the border, to a vote, accept that as well.

If you walk away there will be a hard border and the whole process which has been painstakingly put together over many years may unravel. And it will be all your own fault.

This is the most selfish and backward decision in British political history, and the consequences of it are yet unknown. My guess is that you'll be looking to get back in again in about 20 years time.

The UK government can't walk away from the Good Friday Agreement, without tearing it up and disregard the 71% who voted for it. An historic percentage vote for something In modern times. The UK government will be trying to make trade deals with countries, on the back of reneging on an international treaty signed by two sovereign governments and lodged with the UN. This bad publicity alone would reek havoc attempting to get trade deals done. But also show up their contempt for the democratic wishes of those in the north of the island of Ireland.

I don't think Joey has the best interests of NI at heart here. I mean the good people of NI voted to remain so for me the concessions should be coming from London/Irish Unionists.

Or am I completely off base?

This is the point here. This is being foisted on the people of Ireland, North and South, against the wishes of the vast majority and it will have a negative effect on all of us. The discussions are only really about damage limitation. How democratic is that.

My guess is we will leave and prosper and your country the south will want a referendum just like the French people do and want to leave!

Pretty sure that won't happen.

They held an 'Irexit' thing and less than a couple hundred people or so turned up. If that at all.

Ireland is very multicultural now and very accepting of what it has become albeit there are still social issues because of the influx of migrants. The country seems to be dealing with it. Perfect it may not be but content it seems. The biggest issues with the government are for other issues.

Irish people like the freedom of movement as we are a nation of migrants and a people who like to explore and have craic.

That and we wouldn't have the same mistrust towards the EU because we actually like France and Germany.

The EU is not perfect and has its issues but i think it would be better than the alternative.
