I'll explain it for you then. The passport says EU on the front so that it enables the holder, upon establishment of their details, unhindered travel throughout the EU. The EU cover of the passport does not define the nationality of the holder. The details on the data page define this. Ergo, 28 countries have the same cover passport but with 28 different nationality statuses. This is relevant for defining the nationality status of the holder should they wish to travel elsewhere in the world. I do not understand the fact that you stated that Irish nationals have EU passports. So do 27 other countries. What is your point Pete, or don't you really understand what you're talking about?

Mad that someone who comes across as intelligent thinks its an EU issued passport simply because the cover has an EU logo on it.

Everything else in the passport relates to Ireland only. It is written in part in its native language (including the cover) and says it's issued by the Irish government. Given that the staff that work at the passport office work for and are paid by the Irish government and not governed by the EU tells it all.

But sure its an EU issued passport haha!!

Nothing but another Pete falsehood like those "laws" the EU insist on making us live by.

Boris Johnson, another right wing clown, is another famously not interested in detail. He too prefers sound bites and 'dead cat on the table' tactics. They don't ask about your question if they don't like the answer or don't know the answer. This is the stage that we have reached now. Pete's ankles are now covered in paint.....

Are they supporting the government......

Neither here nor there. The DUP only agreed to support the government on domestic issues unrelated to brexit.

It matters not that they support a deal that parliament sees fit to pass with a majority. The DUP will take whatever parliament gives them, just like the rest of us.

I have said that the process needs to be sorted. That’s what is not defined. The technology exists.....

No one is threatening anyone. I am merely explaining to you the logical outcome of the circumstances and politics.....
Oh come on, you are attempting to use the threat of a recession which would be caused by a no deal Brexit as leverage to force the Irish government to back down on the backstop. If that isn't threatening behaviour I'm not sure what is.

Although a recession would cause massive damage, the progress made on peace and stability over the last 20 years is infinitely more important. That is why our government won't be giving in to the Brexiteers' threats which are tantamount to bullying.

Which one is Irish, EU or a UK passport?

Indeed, but only one of them will have no reference to EU in the future. Your Irish passport MUST have reference to the EU. It’s not a choice even though everyone knows that Ireland is in the EU. My key point in all of this, which the original responder completely overlooked in order to divert is that having fought for Independence the ROI is less independent now than it was as the Irish Free State and it will get worse in the future......

Again,I was just stating a logical outcome...

Ireland - along with 27 other nations chose to join the EU as a sovereign nation. Nobody chose to be part of the Empire Pete.
