And earlier that same day, the IRA shot dead 14 people, including 9 British Army Officers, a Royal Irish Constabulary Officer, and 4 others.

But of course that doesn’t count does it.....
Of course it counts. But it is infinitely more cowardly for armoured tanks to drive into a sports event and open fire on the crowd killing and injuring dozens of innocent people.

Think carefully before pointing the finger when comes to accusing others of cowardice.

The IRA and it’s supporters have always been cowards. Always bombed or executed civilians and state personnel without ever actually openly engaging them. It worked well. It killed thousands, and yesterdays bomb was just the most recent activity....if terrorism defines the border then Ireland isn’t worth it. The day you all renounce terrorist activities, turn them in and stop this romantic nonsense is the day that Ireland may well become one.....because it sure as hell won’t using these tactics......

Probably, 100 years of cowards killing ordinary folk.....

To be fair now there was atrocities committed by, british forces in the north as well, not to mention the atrocities committed by loyalist paramilitaries.Who in many cases, such as the Loughisland massacre, and the Dublin and Monaghan bombings, were operating in collusion with british security forces. Now im no fan of the IRA, or physical force republicanism. But there is that saying, it takes two to tango.Yes you democratically voted to leave the EU.But i think neither yourself or @RichardP appreciate what a powder keg, the north of this island is.We've had 21 years of peace thank god.And we'd like to keep it that way.

Hardly surprising.

The DUP have seemingly taken control of May’s “policy” making.

And as they have been opposed to the GFA since the getgo and its abolition, never mind “amending”, has been top of the party’s wish list I would be very sure they are busying themselves finding ways to undermine the GFA and see May’s weakness as their opportunity.

Gotta laugh haven't you. None of this would be happening if May wasn't dependent on the DUP to stay in power.
Now she wants to renegotiate the GFA. Well it isn't hers to renegotiate. Ironic given that it was approved by referenda on both sides of the border; aren't the outcomes of referenda supposed to be respected Mrs May ?
Anyway the government here have made it clear that there won't be bilateral discussions with the UK government on the Withdrawal agreement which is a matter between the EU collectively and the UK.
Must try harder Teresa.

Read 'lethal allies' by Anne Cadwallader or watch the documentary based on it, 'unquiet graves.' It's absolutely shameful the acts that the British government carried out in NI. They stooped to the level of terrorists. At one stage they tried to have loyalists bomb a Catholic primary school in the hopes of starting all out civil war - something they could manage more easily. Thankfully, even the loyalist hit squads wouldn't stoop so low and they refused to do it.

Military targets were hit by irish terrorists. Civillians were massacred at a football match at the behest of a state. Do you see the problem here?

Let's also mention the 3 republican prisoners beaten to death in jail that night by British soldiers.

The last page or two seems to have got in to a petty points scoring exercise about who has more blood on their hands - the British Forces/IRA/Loyalist paramilitaries.

Clearly bad things happened in the name of all 3, best to leave it there as all that is well in the past now.

The Good Friday Agreement was supposed to end this type of division and my perception as a outsider is that NI is far better than its pre 1998 circumstances, and it is a shame that certain people involved with wanting Brexit are not too bothered about causing a threat to 20+ years of peace, not just over in NI, but also for the whole of the UK.

It's absolutely a better place. Unfortunately, like any 'agreement' it doesn't go far enough. Faith schooling is a massive problem here - perpetuating segregation from a young age. I mean, I never had protestant friends until college because of segregated education and even segregated buses.

Unfortunately it was started by a certain poster claiming that only one party to the conflict were cowards so it was necessary to put the record straight. Unsurprisingly no acceptance of any blame has been forthcoming from him.
