So was a good deal of the US, and the middle east and South East Asia......

NI has been in existence less than a century after an arbitrary line drawn on a map.

Half the population have no affinity with the UK.

This rhetoric just goes around in circles
My family originated from the Republic of Ireland in an ideal world a united ireland would be great , but historically sadly this has never been achieved ......

I think in 20 or 30 years it will happen but it'll be a far different united Ireland than republicans hoped for. It'll have to respect and represent all of Ireland.

I can't make my mind up if a hard brexit hastens or hinders it though.

I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure once upon a time Ireland was Ireland. It wasnt till someone put on their Doc Martins that it wasnt one Ireland.
Note I stated historically going back to Oliver Cromwell etc etc I heard last night a no deal Brexit there would be a better chance for a United Ireland - I don't foresee ithe being a no deal senario as the EU would be hurt too by the way the growth overall in the Eurozone is 0.2 percent, but as long as peace continues, with a deal then the UK will leave the EU with no hard border - the EU have stirred the pot over this for their advantage ......
They like overturning referendums they have a history of it...........

Ironically on BBC this week Thursday night programme - they proposed a no deal Brexit could be a pathway to a United Ireland .....
But diasasterous for the UK, and the EU.....

He's pretty much spot on. Anyone who wants to know what the DUP are all about should read it, especially given where the author grew up - he knows what he is talking about.

The line referring to May which says "in exchange for keeping her in office, she gave the hard-line Unionists veto power over Brexit negotiations" is exactly why we are stuck where we are now, in case anyone didn't already know. It could be May's worst decision of her political career, as it could and probably will lead to the break up of the UK.

...every cloud....

And yet there is an obvious way around the problem: let NI stay in the customs union and single market. But your PM won't let that happen and you support her on this as you said above in a roundabout way.

@Joey66 The majority of NI has voted to remain aligned to the EU.

You really can’t compare us to the British Mainland. I could cross the border as quick as you could get the soccer bus from the Old Lady to the city centre.

Ireland just can’t be an afterthought in Brexit.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day though; that proposal (for NI to remain in while the rest of the UK stays out) is idiotic from whatever viewpoint you choose to take.

Staying in the customs union and the single market is staying in the Eu -did you not read the remain government pamphlet that stated this to every household in the UK.........
By the way the biggest spend of the campaign with taxpayers money and they still lost..........

Does that mean Norway are in the EU?
