Indeed, Joe.

The very dirtiest of dirty games.

And the fact that you, me and millions like us just shrug our shoulders and accept this disgusting situation is the reason politicians get away with serving nowt more than their own narrow self interest and preservation and to heck with acting in the best interests of our country.
They all have their snouts in the trough - I still believe Brexit is a good thing with the right deal, and out of a polictical union get out before it goes pop..........

I believe Brexit is a bad thing......but you are right about the buggers all having their snouts in t’ trough.

It was a cynical bribe to retain their support and give them something to crow about to the NI electorate, nothing more nothing less. Shameless behaviour by Teresa May.

Do you think any Labour leader would not have deployed the same tactic... to keep power ... as I stated snouts in the trough the lot of them..........
Genuine question to you as an arch-Brexiteer:

Would you accept NI remaining in the customs union and single market if it meant that the rest of the UK could have a full, no-strings-attached, Brexit ?

Labour if in government would have used the DUP to stay in power NI is a part of the UK historically so no different terms for them in leaving the EU ......
Only the EU is blowing the border problem up to frustrate us leaving.........both the UK the republic do not want a hard border.......

Which is nothing to do with my question so I'll ask it again:

Would you (for the sake of clarity i.e. @Joey66) accept NI remaining in the customs union and single market if it meant that the rest of the UK could have a full, no-strings-attached, Brexit ?

The semantics of this post are quite illuminating and probably comments on the generic public opinion in the Uk I think.

“NI is historically a part of the UK”

But No different rules for “Them”.

That’s not a criticism mate. I was up in Belfast recently and generally the consensus was no one cares about them or wants them, the UK or the ROI, the feeling was NI was a total inconvenience. I spend a lot of time up North and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen the national identity so far removed from affiliation to the UK or or the ROI.

Interesting piece, but has been written about 100 times these last few months. Its hard not draw any conclusion other than Its A Mess.

Like I said a few days after the Leave result; we havnt really thought this through have we?
It's a mess alright. But drawing back from Brexit's details (as that piece does) it's worth reading stuff like this which tries to anticipate long term ramifications of the type of Brexit we seem to be hurtling towards.

Indeed. And no one gave it more than a passing thought in England. And thats being generous. I certainly didnt.

ANY type of leaving would have thrown up this unsolvable riddle. Hard, soft, cheese on toast, any.

It should have been the central issue for debate. Its not often I am ashamed to be English, reckon we scrub up ok by and large, but this ignorance (mine) of the pickle we have landed our friends in, (north/south/cath/prod) is one thing that most certainly does. Fuming.
