Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

Apparently my input is not welcome. only one side of the argument is allowed, apparently......

Thing is every one has a view point on here whether it’s about football or whatever, we all believe our own is right, if you can’t tolerate others there is little point being on a forum.

I enjoy reading every side, this issue is fascinating given the media slants in both countries, while it has the potential to be a huge issue on the history of both islands.

I’d hate for it all to be one sided or unilateral to one viewpoint, sure that was the cause of the problems and violence between both countries.

Ah come on Pete, grow up. You were calling for the Irish to leave the EU thread the other night.
You hold a minority opinion, you've got to expect kick back.

No, I was asking for border issue to be put in the border thread. I know I hold a minority opinion. If I didn’t, then this thread would just be a back slapping/like giving insular thread and as boring as hell.......

Indeed it was, and unfortunately also has the potential to be so again, except that this time the republicans believe the boot is on the other foot. What must not happen is to repeat the mistakes of the past, there is too much at stake and I hate the fact that Barnier and co are stirring this up........

Hopefully not, I think the brains on both side of the divide are more savvy these days, I hope I’m right but there is always that concern. Civil rights is also less of an issue then it was.

A deal will be agreed in my opinion, I think the UK will agree to a gently worded way of abandoning NI going into the long term without it being said explicitly, it will eventually find it’s the natural progression as demographics take hold.

I’m not sure the EU are stirring it up to be honest, I think many in the UK have been surprised about Ireland’s political reach, there are Irish communities in every country in the world who hold significant voting power and it’s a political issue in many countries not least in the USA. A negative outcome for Ireland isn’t a great political outcome or currency for many governments domestically, multiple domino effects, hence the staunchness and doggedness around the Irish issue.

I think Varadkar is overplaying his hand. The EU are fully behind him, showing solidarity, but were a bit slow in helping them in 2008. It is and remains a negotiation piece, and I know that upsets many on here, but it is what it is. I hope a good deal comes and it works out well for both the ROI and NI, economically and politically, but the DUP will need bringing along and not treated as outsiders.....

Oh dear, is that it. Come on surely you can do better. I appreciate that your mates are not here to give you lots of likes and help you out, but cryarsing isn’t the way forward. Say something positive. Offer an opinion or view. You’ve proven that you can’t do clever comments so just be yourself......tell us what you think should happen, I’d love to know.....
This sort of personal goading is why you deserve to be threadbanned from this thread. Get a life fella.

Why not, if you insist on acting like an idiot don’t be surprised if you’re called out on it.....
So, this kind of shout is acceptable? You’re always the victim lad, complaining about people who agree with what’s been written ‘liking’ each others’ posts despite the fact that they agree with what’s been written. You don’t actually know what you’re talking about.
A joke of a poster.

Thank god you turned up to help out your mate, he’s been struggling here on his own.......

I would personally disagree mate, I think the issue has surprised the UK politically. Varadekeer is not a stupid man, hes a very populist leader he never backs a looseing horse and he’s confident, very confident. He’s also savily canvassed beyond Europe to big countries politically with big Irish populations around this issue.

I think the UK have worked hard to make the issue a negotiation piece, it just hasn’t happened really, very limited progress has been made boardly on the nuts and bolts of Brexit beyond the Irish issue, what are we now closing in on three years now into the process and the position hasn’t shifted.

All evidence points elsewise.
