I'm not sure what 911 has to do with it Pete?

There was always a romanticism in parts of the USA regarding the IRA and its ‘struggle’. This was reflected in large cash donations and support, political and other. After 911, and the USA having now suffered from a terrorist attack, the mood changed, the U.K. was once again a staunch ally, and support disappeared. So I think that rather than many years later, it would have been only a few to arrive at a ‘GFA’......just a view mind.....

The US turned insular after that Pete. It became (Or was made) a Christian v Muslim crusade. I doubt an inter Christianity sqwable would have been on Bush and Cheeney's mind. There was still a very powerful Irish lobby in DC but it would've been a low low priority.

Don't forget 911 was 6 years after the GFA and the Irish issue was completely off the agenda in the US as had been solved.

Oh I know, I was just suggesting that it wouldn’t have taken 25-30 years after, as had been posted......

Foster's language is getting more and more desperate by the day, defining this issue as a territorial one. I'd love to know how you 'annexe' a land which is already part of your union...

DUP leader Arlene Foster has said she would prefer no Brexit deal to a bad deal, describing current plans as amounting to "the annexation of Northern Ireland" by the EU.

British and European Union negotiators this month have accelerated the push for a Brexit deal but talks remain snagged on the issue of the border.

"I fully appreciate the risks of a 'no deal' (Brexit) but the dangers of a bad deal are worse," Ms Foster wrote in an article in the Belfast Telegraph.

She added: "This backstop arrangement would not be temporary.

"It would be the permanent annexation of Northern Ireland away from the rest of the United Kingdom and forever leave us subject to rules made in a place where we have no say."

I am fast coming to the conclusion that Foster is being worked from the back by rabid Tory Brexiteers, desperate to see the end of May (pity they don’t have a potential leader named June waiting in the wings ).

A bunch of them have come in support of this DUP threat to bring diwn their own government and they are egging her on to make these threats.

It is like sommat out of Ealing.....The Mouse That Roared.

(there’s one for the teenagers :))

"We do not like that, so we dont, right enough".

Nowt whatever.

@peteblue is doing what all keyboard knowitalls do when their arguments have been ridiculed and laid bare.

They deflect and try to take the argument in another direction :pint2:

Hahaha.....the day you possess the ability to look at both sides of an argument without a bigoted single viewpoint will be worth waiting for. As for you having the intellect to ridicule a post of mine, apart from pleasing your easily led chums, that will be a day neither you nor I will ever see......

A Fermanagh man playing a Belfast accent!

Born in the same town as Arlene Foster as it happens. He at least has had a credible career.
Arlene looks like she could take Big Jim down herself, so she does. Face like a bulldog chewing a wasp, right enough. Not like Jim's wee girl Elizabeth.
