What are Iran’s reasons for doing it? Genuine question. Seems a bit silly for them to be inviting all this onto themselves

The latest attacks were directed against US warships and HMS Diamond. Combined UAV, USV and ballistic missiles

Also they’re targeting any vessel attempting transit of the Red Sea. The Maersk vessel that got hit was Singapore owned carrying cargo to Egypt - That’s why Singapore got involved in all of this.

What started as an anti-Israeli operation by the Houthis has escalated into something much bigger and can only be controlled and directed by Iran.

They absolutely are not doing this, at all.

Unity Explorer - U.K. owned, Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier, carrying cargo to U.K.

Number 9 - U.K. owned, Bahamas flagged, carrying cargo to U.K.

That’s 3 off the top of my head that have been attacked with no links to Israel. There have been many more.

Feels like Iran is controlling the play here and drawing in the US, using the Houthis as bait.

They are just testing the resolve of the west. We will know exactly where the various drones and missiles came from, they’ve been taking the mick for weeks now. It’s time for retribution both against the Houthis and Iran…doing nothing will only encourage them……

That’s what’s worrying me. It’s like Iran is poking the US and wants confrontation. However the inevitable will happen and the Houthis will get hammered - I’m unsure of the response against Iran. If the US wants to do something then they have to go big.

Indeed. Sink their entire naval fleet. There’s a few corvettes, frigates etc but mostly patrol boats and a half dozen subs. Send a proper message. Within a week the west will have more than enough hardware in place to do it. Iran is causing all this trouble, then denying it and basically getting away scot free…..

There have been 26 attacks since mid-November. There are that many oil tankers using the straits every day, to say nothing of other shipping.

It is completely wrong to say they are attacking any vessel attempting transit of the straits.

Perhaps the wording is wrong. I suspect @Mutzo Nutzo will attack a ship without any ties to Israel (they'll pick any target). They aren't attacking every ship.

What point are you making, that it’s OK to attack shipping if the Houthis believe it’s for Israel. If so, would it be OK for Israel to bomb the crap out of the Houthis?…Sending drones or missiles towards U.K. and American naval assets, is that acceptable? When does it stop ?……

The cabinet have met this evening. A real discussion or the start of a series of moves to make Iran decide to rein in the Houthi rebels - and their own agenda?

I'm going with the latter. Thr US have already stated that there'll be consequences if they don't stop, so hopefully this prods them towards stopping.

I think the former tbh. Assets will be placed out of harms reach and sites will be bombed…….
