Interesting read, Moshiri, finances etc

Given our position in the table, and the amount of money we should be able to/have spend/t, I don't think that's totally unreasonable.
Money we have to spend is still dwarfing the potential the 6 above us can spend or are spending.
we still have a long road ahead of us and expectation needs to be managed
We are not a City or Chelsea who can buy success, we will need to build a squad that is capable of challenging that top 6...

Leicester and Spurs challenged last year. I missed the part where they threw 2 bn at it.

Spuds seem to have gone about it the right way, and an interesting comparison on the money side. Since Ferguson departed*, Spurs have 248 points vs 240 for Manchester United, yet in roughly the same time period (using 12/13 to 14/15 data from Deloitte), United's turnover has averaged between 200% and 250% greater that Spurs. The aggregate difference in turnover for that period is roughly €780 greater for United.

*Granted, a small sample, but it is what it is

If he's the answer then the question must be: "Which Iranian Briton took over Everton in 2016?"

...because he's not the answer to our CL ambitions.

He's the stepping stone investor, nothing more and nothing less.
If honest I hope you are right, as simply the man is rich but he is not Mega rich
I firmly believe we are in a far better financial position than we have been since the hey days of the Moores family, so we have to take positives from his investment. He has come in and albeit slowly is making changes and we are seeing shoots of investment and player signings appear to be on the agenda.
I think for so long we have wanted to be treated as a business, this is happening now and usually this means potentially we will be open to being sold

I think even that's far too optimistic at the moment. If change is occurring it's glacial so far. And thats my point really, the belief he will change things quickly and decisively is well overplayed. It'll be a lot less dramatic than most think it'll be. In five years time I'd be surprised if we were substantially down the road on a stadium or had upped our pace in terms of getting out in front of the chasing pack looking to join the so called top 6.

No, Davek.
Then forever settle for lack of success.

We had the equivalent to a muti billionaire in the 1960s with Moores. That's what got us back into competition and eventual domination over the powers of the day like Man Utd, Spurs, Liverpool. Do we now say we don't learn that historical lesson and adopt some ridiculous purity?

Do you know what FFP and STCC are David?

Yes I do. They're the same rules that City and Chelsea's owners have to deal with. Where this a will (and a wit) there's a way.

Stop making excuses for the new regime. They're laughing at you and people like you for giving them a free pass on ambition.

Do you know the date in which the current owners of City and Chelsea took over?

Lemme tell you, it was before such rules came out, they had time to grow the business, in Chelseas case they had free will to buy every single player in Europe and stockpile them, in Citys case, their owners own a freaking sovereign state, so had time to grow the business with a little help from their Friends.

Your being unrealistic, its a different landscape Moshiri has entered, we are going to need time, even if he wanted to spend every single penny on us, he cant, the rules forbid it.

He gets no free pass from me, what he does get is time, cos im not a stupid and can see the hurdles we need to jump, if in a few years we are still stuck in the stable, well, thats the time to panic, till then, lets wait and see.

You're making my argument for me mate.

It's exactly the point I'm making: Moshiri - regardless of all the nonsense around Usmanov and that recent USM deal (which, IMO, won't even be ratified) - is not a man capable of transcending the new realities of regulation every club now faces. Only owners out if his stratosphere can do it.

He owns Everton now though. We are going to have to go through this stage of development first before ever having a chance of scaling the heights again. That said, Moshiri needs to have his feet held to the fire over succeeding in this first stage by getting a stadium built and have us top 5 competitive most seasons on the pitch. But forget Everton getting back to the pinnacle under his period here. That isn't gong to happen.
