@davek is the king of fishing. He casts the bait and waits for the little fishies to bite.

You will all soon be apart of the Vek's revolution.

DRINK IT ALL IN MAAAANNNN !!!

Yes, and it was a flawed analysis. We cant challenge with the cash available to us. His second and third seasons underlined it. We can have a one off season every now and again like in 2004/05 when a CL place was secured (incredibly given the points total gained and goals we scored that season) and 2013/14 when the points we ran up really should have been translated into a CL place, but all told we are not at the races.

Does a new stadium increasing our revenue per season by, I dont know (top of my head) £40M through bigger match day receipts and commercial tie ups bring us nearer the elite? Yes, a little. But it's not game changing in and of itself. You have to have everything go your way in terms of the right manager and blend of players and hope that the new stadium effect is a short run thing on home form.

Really, the only way of ensuring a massive leap in any club's fortunes is when seriously rich owners come along and are prepared to spend a couple of billion over a half a decade to get the revolution underway.
What happened to your stance of "I don't expect a Billionaire sugar daddy, just someone who is going to take the club forward" that was your mantra when you were bleating about Bill and his cronies for years?

We've now got an investor who's already put £80m of his kids inheritance into the club, within months of his arrival, is pushing forward with our ground move and yet you're still bleating like some Sky era Kopite because he's not chucked £500m at it.

Unreal.

It wasn't a totally flaws analysis, because we see examples of clubs competing with lesser resources all the time.

We have greater resources available to us now than we had then, and we will have even greater resources in future. Yes, we will need things to click and a little bit of luck along the way, but ok, that's football.

I admire the way you nail your colours to the mast. You don't think we can compete with anything less than a £2 billion investment over 5 years. I agree to disagree.

Maybe challenging for a CL place

Given our position in the table, and the amount of money we should be able to/have spend/t, I don't think that's totally unreasonable.

1) That's why it's not the only thing going on. We're also investing in the squad, hopefully to improve money earned 'on the pitch', as well as our comercial revenues (eg FF naming rights). As you say, it will take a combination of factors all working together. Koeman and Walsh have a big part to play in it too, but they themselves are only here due to Moshiri.

2) £400m a year, for 5 years. Well that's clearly not possible for us due to FFP. Unless you can increase your other streams of revenue. You know, kinda like the things in point 1 hopefully will do...

You can see why FFP was dreamt up can't you, keep the hierarchy as it is, imagine the G14 before they were disbanded pushed UEFA on this.

Yes, to move us onto a level where we can build a stadium and address squad quality. That was the first step. That's what I see Moshiri's task as. He has got to be seen as the necessary stage before we get the game changer in.

We wont compete on a regular basis with £40M more a year. It's not enough to get a seat at the table.
